APA Format in Word - in 4 Minutes

05:16
RECOMMEND USING UPDATED "APA Format in Word - in 4 Minutes V2" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZVIa2sTbpM Format basic APA documents in Word in 4 minutes. Really. This is a visual approach to writing APA in Word. At the end you'll find the steps used, which you can copy or screen print. Created for my college students, but shared in the hope that it helps others. If you have an earlier version of Word, just look for the same keywords, such as "different first page". Other how-to APA topics, such as citations and references, will appear in subsequent videos.

Stoic Solutions Podcast 82: Positive Masculinity, Response to American Psychological Association

14:09
I offer a response to a recent article from the American Psychological Association which considers traditional masculinity -- marked by stoicism, competitiveness, dominance, and aggression -- to be, on the whole, harmful. Classical Stoicism, free from unhelpful feminist ideology, maintains that all are capable of virtue and provides a framework by which all can live better lives. APA Style Journal Article Reporting Standards

04:01
As part of its promotion of greater transparency and the assessment of rigor in psychological science, the American Psychological Association has released new Journal Article Reporting Standards for researchers seeking to publish in scholarly journals. The standards are specific to psychological research and offer guidelines on the information needed in a research article to ensure that the elements included are comprehensible and that the study can be replicated. The new standards: - Recommend the division of hypotheses, analyses and conclusions into primary, secondary and exploratory groupings to allow for a full understanding of quantitative analyses presented in a manuscript and enhance reproducibility. - Offer modules for authors reporting on N-of-1 design, replication, clinical trials, longitudinal studies and observational studies, as well as the analytic methods structural equation modeling and Bayesian analysis. - Address the plurality of inquiry traditions, methods and goals, providing guidance on material to include across diverse qualitative research methods. - Provide standards for reporting research using mixed-method designs, drawing on both qualitative and quantitative standards. For more information: “Journal Article Reporting Standards for Quantitative Research in Psychology: The APA Publications and Communications Board Task Force Report” - http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/releases/amp-amp0000151.pdf “Journal Article Reporting Standards for Qualitative Primary, Qualitative Meta-Analytic, and Mixed Methods Research in Psychology: The APA Publications and Communications Board Task Force Report” - http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/releases/amp-amp0000151.pdf "Editorial: Journal Article Reporting Standards” - http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/releases/amp-amp0000263.pdf __ The American Psychological Association is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 115,700 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members. American Psychological Association

03:22
The American Psychological Association (abbreviated APA) is a professional organization representing psychologists in the U.S., with around 150,000 members and an annual budget of around $70m. The American Psychological Association is occasionally confused with the American Psychiatric Association, which also uses the acronym APA. APA policy on the use of the title psychologist is contained in the General Guidelines for Providers of Psychological Services: "Psychologists have a doctoral degree in psychology from an organized, sequential program in a regionally accredited university or professional school" and suggests "refer[ence] to master's-level positions as counselors, specialists, clinicians, and so forth (rather than as 'psychologists')." A definition of psychology is offered: "the study of the mind and behavior." Media Psychology is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to publishing theoretically-oriented empirical research that is at the intersection of psychology and media communication. These topics include media uses, processes, and effects. Such research is already well represented in mainstream journals in psychology and communication, but its publication is dispersed across many sources. Therefore, scholars working on common issues and problems in various disciplines often cannot fully utilize the contributions of kindred spirits in cognate disciplines. By providing a high-quality, common publication outlet for psychologists, human developmental specialists, communication researchers, and other scholars who are interested in the psychological antecedents and consequences of communicating via mass media (television), telecommunications media (computer networks), and personal media (multimedia), potentially fertile cross-disciplinary work can flourish. Although most of the published articles will report original empirical research that bridges mediated communication and psychology, state-of-the-art reviews and meta-analyses that provide a major synthesis of primary research findings in a pivotal area will be considered. Manuscripts will be judged by the degree to which they make a major theoretical contribution and offer a substantial advancement to the body of knowledge about the uses, processes, or effects of the media. http://www.apa.org/ http://www.apa.org/releases/therapeutic.html
