How to download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader for Free
This tutorial will show you how to download and Install the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - the free, trusted software which will allow you to type, print and save our PDF fillable form solutions on your Mac or Windows computer. This tutorial is being shown on a Windows 10 computer, but it should look similar on other computer systems.
There are two basic steps in this process:
First, you will download the Adobe software file to your computer.
Second, you will install the software on your computer.
So, first download the software file:
You will need to use Google or your preferred Web browser to find the Adobe download site. In the search bar, type "Get Adobe Reader." This search will bring up the webpage where you can find Adobe products for downloading to your computer. You will see that the Adobe webpage automatically chooses the product you need, based on your Mac or Windows system.
Be sure to UNCHECK "Acrobat Reader Chrome Extension" and "Optional Offers", as you will not need these features to use our fillable PDF Solutions.
Once you have unchecked those two options, click on the "Install Now" button. You will see a file appear on the bottom left of your browser window. Click on the Installer, and the download process will begin, as the Adobe file is transferred to your computer.
It may take a while for the download to occur.
Once the download is complete, click "Finish" to launch the installation program.
Okay, now move to the second stage of the process: Installing the free Adobe software. Adobe Acrobat DC is a feature rich program, but for this tutorial we are just going to go with a default installation, which will include all the basic capabilities of the free Adobe program. Click the "recommended settings" button, then click through the various onboarding screens.
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has numerous features online, and will ask you to log in or set up a paid account with Adobe Reader. We are going to skip this step, since we only want the free version for the PDFs we will use on the computer. Skip installing the free Scan app as well.
Once installed, the screen will show recently opened files. The screen will be blank if you have never used Adobe Reader before.
To open a file on your computer, click "Open," then navigate in the panel to where your PDF file is located on your computer. For this tutorial, I have saved the PDF file on the desktop. Let's open the CMS 1500 fillable form that was created specifically for use with Adobe Reader.
Once the file is open, close the sidebar on the right that is showcasing all the online features. These are features we will not use. Because our PDF is a fillable form, it displays with blue highlighted fields. To save, print or clear one of our forms, look for the built-in button that controls the "print" and "save" features within the form.
Fiachra Forms creates all fillable forms with the extended rights feature enabled. You can easily open, fill out, save and print PDF forms. Check out our services at https://fiachraforms.com/
