Google Maps http://g.co/maps/wmjha to http://g.co/maps/ffqkn . This is the first of a series chronicling our annual trek from Winnipesaukee to Saco Maine, down the coast of Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts ending at Plum Island. This is an amazing journey that we do at least once a year, the round trip takes us 6 hours. This was on August 13th 2011. Although the entire journey will need to be edited for length, this portion of the journey is shown in its entirety. There is a very cool sequence at the end following the breakwater out to sea. This is my first video done in HD. It was shot with my GoPro in1080p format. I reccommend full screen with your sound up. Hope you enjoy it, this is the view from my world.

Surviving One of the Deadliest Routes to Europe: Refugees at Sea

31:40
Desperate to escape conflict and poverty, thousands of migrants and refugees attempt the perilous journey to Europe each year, with many crossing the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa in rubber dinghies and wooden boats. In the wake of the decommissioning of Mare Nostrum, a search and rescue operation run by Italy, the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), launched their own vessel, named the Bourbon Argos, to find those stranded at sea and save those in trouble on one of the deadliest routes to Europe. On board the vessel, refugees and migrants are provided with medical aid, food, and shelter, then brought safely to Italian shores. Having survived life in Libya, ruthless treatment by smugglers, and horrific conditions aboard flimsy boats, once aboard the Bourbon Argos they face yet more uncertainty as they approach Europe. VICE News teamed up with MSF to document these search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean and speak to rescued refugees and migrants, hearing about the suffering they have endured in their attempts to reach a new life. River Journey song geography

03:25
Song about rivers for Geography Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A level Rivers are flowing in constant motion down from the mountains into the ocean, the river gets faster, wider, deeper, The profile is more flat not steeper On the top of the river or the upper course, The start of the river is called the source, Conditions up here are cold wet and marshy The water starts flowing in small tributaries, The sides are steep and the river is narrow There's not much water so the river is shallow, The river cuts down or vertically The result of this are V shaped valleys Another upper feature is a waterfall Hard rock meets soft rock deep and tall Hard rock remains soft rock erodes A deep plunge pool forms down below Rivers are flowing in constant motion Down from the mountains into the ocean The river gets faster, wider, deeper The profile is more flat not steeper In the middle course the river gets fatter And the river profile keeps getting flatter The river channel starts to twist and turn Meander is the bend this term you need to learn The beach forms on meander inside The load is dropped as the river gets tired The process of dropping is called deposition The load it drops is called alluvium On the outside meander is fast and deep A cliff forms here it's tall and steep The river goes fastest way always straight The river gets cut to an ox bow lake Rivers are flowing in constant motion Down from the mountains into the ocean The river gets faster, wider, deeper The profile is more flat not steeper In the lower course the river is deeper wider still The land is flat there are no hills The river will flood when there's lots of rain This widespread feature is called a floodplain As the river winds towards the sea The tidal area is an estuary The mouth of the river is where it ends Water into the ocean the river sends This is where it ends

Waterlog: A Swimmer's Journey from City to Sea

03:21
An imaginary journey swimming from city to sea, inspired by Roger Deakin's wonderful wild swimming book, Waterlog. If you haven't read it, I would urge you to buy a copy: http://amzn.to/2uaQy4E The text to the film is all quoted from Waterlog: "A swimming journey would give me access to that part of our world which, like darkness, mist, woods or high mountains, still retains most mystery. It would afford me a different perspective on the rest of landlocked humanity." This was filmed, on one glorious, hot June day, at six different locations heading south from London down to the sea, which lies just an hour from the city on the train. If this film inspires you to head for a river, lake or coast this summer, I recommend these two fabulous wild swimming guidebooks for the UK, and these mapped swimming routes taken from the book: - Wild Swim: http://amzn.to/2vztg8V - Wild Swimming: http://amzn.to/2vzern8 - Wild Swimming Top 10 (map): http://my.viewranger.com/route/curations/60 - Wild Swimming in Wales (map): http://my.viewranger.com/route/curations/444 Thank you to www.skyriseproductions.co.uk

From the pastoral to the industrial, cruise down the world's most storied river "The Nile" in a once in a lifetime journey. ► Support our channel via: Paypal: https://www.paypal.me/mycompasstv The Nile River is a major north-flowing river in northeastern Africa, it's generally regarded as the longest river in the world at 6,853 km long. The Nile is an "international" river as its water resources are shared by eleven countries, namely, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt. In particular, the Nile is the primary water resource and life artery for Egypt and Sudan. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along those parts of the Nile valley north of Aswan, and nearly all the cultural and historical sites of Ancient Egypt are found along the riverbanks. The Nile ends in a large delta that empties into the Mediterranean Sea. reporter: Ilona Kauremszky video: Stephen Smith music: Kevin MacLeod http://incompetech.com http://www.mycompass.ca http://twitter.com/mycompasstv

From Source to the Sea - A CT River Journey

25:16
A 1959 trip on the Connecticut River from the Canadian border to Long Island Sound increased public awareness of its sad state at the time. Dr. Joseph Davidson and his wife donned gas masks at various locations, met Governors and local officials along the way, and compared a bottle of water from the source to water along the way. The Connecticut River Watershed Council (now the Connecticut River Conservancy) made this 25 minute film of the journey to spread the story.

Source to Sea: My Journey Down the Mississippi | Forrest Schoessow | TEDxOhioStateUniversity

14:38
Forrest Schoessow discusses the coevolution of the Mississippi River and its people, tied in with his canoe journey down the river with few supplies and limited resources. Forrest Schoessow is an explorer in pursuit of knowledge of Earth’s interconnected natural and human systems. His curiosity has led him to serve via Americorps in the Montana wilderness, work as a farmhand in the Bolivian jungle, teach in South Korea, hitch-hike across Eurasia, and ramble about most of the United States. In 2015, Forrest led a crew of three on the Mississippi River Survey Expedition, canoeing ~2350 miles down the Mississippi River from its headwaters in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. Following this adventure, he completed a Master of Science in geography in the College of Natural Resources at Utah State University. Forrest is currently pursuing a doctorate in geography at Ohio State and leads the Mountain Drone Team at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center. His research leverages technology and engineering advances to transform the way scientists observe the rapid changes affecting alpine water systems. A journey down the River Thames

51:40
Liquid history. The very essence of England. The name Thames, spoken by Julius Caesar when he invaded Iron Age Britain, speaks for itself. This film follows the course of one of the world's most famous rivers from its secluded source at Trewsbury Mead near Cirencester past nine counties - Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Greater London, Kent and Essex to the sea at Southend. Watch the Thames grow from a ditch which has no water at all in it for much of the year, into a gaping estuary five miles wide and one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes. Visit Abington, Wallingford, Reading, Henley-on-Thames, Maidenhead, Kingston, Rechmond, Gravesend and many other picturesque towns and villages. Glide through stunningly beautiful scenery - The Goring Gap, the Cotswolds and Sonning Reach. See the spires of Oxford and view the riverside castles and palaces where kings and queens made their home. Admire the many bridges big and small and hear the fascinating story of London Bridge and the world's first underwater tunnel. Almost every yard of this regal river has its own take to tell, and you will hear so many of them unfold during this voyage of discovery down the Thames, the definitive slice of olde England.
