https://mocomi.com/ presents: Mythical Creatures - Part I Tales of mythical or legendary creatures have traveled through generations in folklore and stories of encounters. Some creatures are hybrids of 2 or more animals and some are said to be real(but there is a lack of evidence to support this theory). Loch Ness Monster - The Loch Ness Monster is said to be a large aquatic animal which looks like a plesiosaur like reptile, reportedly seen in the waters of Lochness, Scotland. Reports of the mysterious creature date back to the 6th century. Mongolian Deathworm - The Mongolian Death Worm is said to exist in the Gobi Desert. It supposedly looks like a bright red worm with a wide body. Mermaid - The mermaid is a legendary aquatic creature of the sea with the head and torso of human female and the tail of a fish. In some cultures the Mermaid was considered to be a sea Goddess and the earliest of mermaid stories comes from Assyria around 1000 BCE. Sea Serpent - Sea serpents are a kind of sea monster either fully or partly serpentine. The sightings of these creatures go back for hundreds of year. Although these creates have been sighted on a number of occasions, there is no physical evidence available to prove that these serpents actually exist. and more. In this video, we will explore the top 10 mythical sea creatures. Number 10. Cthulhu. Cthulhu is an undersea monster and has been described as a mix between a giant octopus, a man and a dragon... It is hundreds of meters tall, with human-looking arms and legs and a pair of wings on its back. Cthulhu's head looks like an octopus, with tentacles surrounding its supposed mouth... H. P. Lovecraft's story, "The Call of Cthulhu", established the character as a malevolent entity hibernating within an underwater city in the South Pacific called R'lyeh... Games company TSR included an entire chapter on the Cthulhu mythos in Deities & Demigods (1980)… Number 9. Leviathan. The Leviathan of the Middle Ages was used as an image of Satan, attempting to eat God’s creatures... Leviathan became associated with, and may originally have referred to, the visual motif of the Hellmouth, a monstrous animal into whose mouth the damned disappear at the Last Judgement... Young Earth Creationists argue that both the Leviathan and the Behemoth in the Bible could only have been dinosaurs that they claim still existed when the Book of Job was written... In the study of demonology, the Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper.

Footage has emerged of the remains of a large sea creature washed up on the shore in the Dinagat Islands, Philippines on Wednesday afternoon. The unidentified creature, which measured 4.5 metres (15 feet) in length, surprised the local residents. The carcass, believed to be that of a sea cow according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Manila, washed up on a beach in Barangay Poblacion, Cagadianao. The creature was already in a state of advanced decomposition when found. Teodoro L. Alipayo, who took these videos and pictures, told Reuters that a sample of the specimen has been taken to BFAR Manila for laboratory experimentation to determine the species and cause of death. He added that the bones are being preserved as a memento of this rare event. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to our channel: http://read.ht/fLZ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/htTweets Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hindustantimes iOS:- http://m.onelink.me/bcae8b2d Android:- http://m.onelink.me/986f584a Watch more videos at: http://www.hindustantimes.com/video hindustantimes.com © 2016

This week, we're starting our discussion of Mythical Creatures with the WORST creatures. Monsters. What makes a monster monstrous though? Mike Rugnetta will guide you through the fine line between a magical creature and a monster. Spoiler alert: like 60% of the time, the difference is that monsters eat people. We'll talk about sea monsters, Sphinxes, and take an elongated look directly into the Canadian face of horror, the Wendigo. Crash Course is made with Adobe Creative Cloud. From Mermaids to The Kraken, from Sirens to The Loch Ness Monster, here are some of the mythical creatures that are rumored to be alive. SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos: https://goo.gl/7xzjzR 12 Jormungandr The Jormungandr, or the Midgard Serpent, is the middle child of giantess Angrboda and Loki. Odin, god of gods, took Loki’s three children, the wolf Fenrir, Hel and Jormungand and threw the serpent in the great ocean that surrounds Midgard. It grew so large that it managed to surround the earth and grab it’s own tail. Thor, the thunder-god, is the arch-enemy of Jormungand and it is said that when the serpent releases it’s tail, Ragnarok, or the end of the world, will begin. 10 Sirens Not exactly a water creature, but it was a deadly threat to those travelling at sea. Sirens were dangerous monsters that lured sailor and ships with their enchanting voices, causing them to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their Island. The greeks and romans were terrified of them. Part woman, part bird, they played a variety of musical instruments, especially the harp. It is said that Ulysses was so curious as to what exactly made the siren’s song so enchanting, so he ordered his sailor to plug their ears with beeswax, tie him to the ship’s mast and leave him there, no matter how much he begged. Upon hearing their beautiful song, Ulysses went mad and screamed to be released. His men tied him even tighter until they passed out of earshot and their song could no longer be heard. It is said that the sirens were fated to die if any anybody listened to their song and escaped, and after Ulysses left, they flung themselves into the ocean and perished. 8 Yacuruna The indigenous people of the Amazon tell tales of the Yacuruna, water people, similar to human beings, that live in beautiful underwater cities, often at the mouths of rivers. They are described as hairy beings, with their heads turned backwards and having deformed feet. During the day, they sleep on the bottom of the rivers and lakes, and at night they roam the amazon riding a crocodile as a canoe and using a boa snake as a necklace. The Yacuruna can communicate and have control over the animals of the rainforest and it is said that they can transform into the Amazon River Dolphin, which is attracted by the blood in menstruating women. Once the woman is found, it transforms into a handsome man and seduces the woman, using aphordisiacs to kidnapp her and bring her to his underwater kingdom. With time, she gradually starts resembling her captor. Once the transformation of a human into a Yacuruna is complete, it is irreversible and they can never go back home. 7 Loch Ness Monster The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, is a creature inhabiting the Loch Ness lake in the Scottish Highlands. It is probably one of the most famous lake monster, and it is reported as being very large in size, with a long neck and humps protruding out of the water. The first sighting was in the 6th century AD, when Irish saint Columba met with a group of people burying a man near River Ness. One of the men was swimming and a water beast grabbed him and dragged him underwater. When the beast returned for one of Saint Columba’s men, he drove the creature away by making the sign of the cross and commanding the creature to leave. As the years passed, many more people reported seeing a strange creature in the lake, and The Loch Ness monster first gained worldwide attention with the now famous “surgeon’s photograph”, that shows a serpent-like creature sticking it’s head out of the water. Some say the Loch Ness monster is either a myth or just a hoax. Others say that Nessie is in fact an ancient Plesiosaurus. 5 Nymph Nymphs are divine spirits, often found in forests and mountains, near the placed they are bound to, like rivers or lakes. They look like very beautiful women, but are in fact deities 3 Kraken Near the coast of Norway and Greenland lives a giant monster that has been the stuff of nightmares for anybody who dared venture out to sea. For centuries, the Kraken has been one of the most terrifying creatures that inhabit the ocean. It is a huge, octopus like creature. It attacks anyone who disturbs its waters, from fishing boats to large ships. There is no way to escape it’s tentacles, which they use to embrace a whole ship, crushing it, and pulling it deep underwater. 1 Mermaid/Merman Of course you’ve heard of Mermaids, or their male counterparts, the Mermen. They have the upper body of a human, and the tail of a fish. They have been sighted since the times of the Assyrians, even Christopher Columbus saw them during his exploration of the Caribbean! Mermaids are associated with floods, drownings and shipwrecks, although they are not necessarily evil, sometimes they do good, blessing the fortunate, teaching them hidden knowledge, or falling in love with humans. Some say they are just manatees or stingrays. Until we actually find one, there’s plenty of stories about mermaid to read.

Sea Monsters Documentary Sea monsters are sea-dwelling mythical or legendary creatures, often believed to be of immense size. Marine monsters can take many forms, including sea dragons, sea serpents, or multi-armed beasts. They can be slimy or scaly and are often pictured threatening ships or spouting jets of water. The definition of a "monster" is subjective, and some sea monsters may have been based on scientifically accepted creatures such as whales and types of giant and colossal squid.

THE SEA BISHOP From the mid-16th century onward, depictions of the mysterious sea bishop, or “bishop-fish,” have been illustrated in natural history almanacs. It’s depicted as a humanoid sea-dweller with an elongated, domed head, tentacle-like fingers, feet with no toes, scaly skin, and human-like facial features, such as a beard. A cloak-like fin hangs from its back. 7. AMABIE During the Edo Era, when Japanese society was predominantly agricultural, the legend of the Amabie began. According to the myth, the creature appeared to people in the water with prophecies of either an impending epidemic or a bountiful harvest. 6. EACH-UISGE You’ve probably heard of the Loch Ness monster, which reportedly dwells in a deep freshwater loch of the Scottish Highlands. But have you heard of the each-uisge? This Scottish water spirit may be lesser known than Nessie, but it’s no less intriguing. 5. UMIBOZU Surely, you’ve heard the saying “the calm before the storm.” In Japanese mythology, that phrase takes on a whole new meaning, with calm seas symbolizing the potential emergence of a sea monster known as the Umibozu, or the “sea monk.” 4. AFANC In Welsh mythology, the Afanc is a lake-monster that assumes the form of a dwarf, crocodile, or giant. It preys on anyone who enters the waters it inhabits whether by accident or on purpose. It also thrashes violently and once even reportedly caused a big flood that drowned all the British people. A more popular tale holds that the Afanc became tame after a maiden allowed it to sleep in her lap. 3. ABAIA According to Melanesian folklore, a serpent called the Abaia dwells at the bottom of freshwater lakes in the Fiji, Solomon, and Vanuatu Islands. The Abaia, which can be best described as a large eel, considers all the lake’s creatures to be its children and will anyone who tries to harm or disturb them. 2. FINFOLK These pesky sea dwellers put a whole new spin on the concept of arranged marriages. Finfolk were dark sorcerers with shapeshifting abilities, according to Orkney legend, among numerous other supernatural skills, including the ability to control the weather. During the winter, they lived at the bottom of the sea, in a luxurious city called Finfolkaheem. 1. QALUPALIK The Qalupalik is an evil mermaid in Inuit folklore that’s described as half-human and half sea creature. She spends her days in the frozen Arctic waters, patrolling the shoreline for disobedient children. With claw-like fingernails, green skin, and long, wild hair, the Qalupalik’s appearance is utterly terrifying. She wears a backpack-like garment called an amauti, which is traditionally worn by Inuit women to carry babies on their back. Whether they were the creation from rumors and legends, or they were created in the minds of humanity, there has always been some form of truth involved when it comes to mythical creatures. While we might not get to see a real unicorn or listen to a mermaid sing her song on the rocky cliffs of the coast, there are other mythical creatures that were more real than we ever could have imagined. But, thanks to historical documentation, we can see where some of our most popular legends stemmed from. Since science has made great progress in the world of research, we can cross examine legends and science to see where these mythical creatures come from. For example, the sea serpent was most likely to be a giant oarfish. The mythical cyclops creature may have been inspired by an early ancestor of the elephant! Check out these 10 terrifying mythical sea monsters! - Mega Top Tens ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just what is a “sea monster” anyway? Well, we’ve given ourselves a pretty broad definition to work with. Here’s the Stubby the Rocket definition: Sea Monster (noun): Any sufficiently awesome water-dwelling creature that we perceive as being monstrously cool. So, with that in mind, prepare yourself for the greatest A-Z list of sea monsters ever compiled, just below the surface of this blog. Abe Sapien (Hellboy): An icthyo sapien, transformed as the result of a strange ritual. Aquaman (DC Comics): Sovereign of the sea who can breathe underwater and can communicate with sea creatures (either in their own language or telepathically—pretty cool either way). Afanc (Welsh Mythology): A lake monster who is sort of like a crocodile, beaver or a dwarf. Bloop (Real Life): Mysterious, extremely powerful, ultra-low frequency sound detected by NOAA. No one knows where it comes from. Probably a monster. Cetus (Greek mythology/constellation): Most of the sea monsters taken out by Heracles and Perseus were referred to as “Cetus,” which could mean an extraordinarily big fish, shark or sea monster. Charybdis (The Odyssey): Basically a giant whirlpool (or monster who causes massive whirlpools) designed to screw over Odysseus. Creature from the Black Lagoon (Creature from the Black Lagoon): A Gill-Man who only wants to be left alone. Cthulhu (H.P. Lovecraft): One of the Great Old Ones. Part octopus, part human, part dragon, all badass. Watch out. Fiji Mermaid (Real life): A sideshow creation consisting of the top half of monkey and the lower half of a fish. Hydra (Greek Mythology/Real Life): The Lernaean hydra was a many-headed, serpent-like beast killed by Heracles. Also a genus of tiny, predatory, fresh-water animals with regenerative abilities. Jörmungandr (Norse Mythology): AKA, the Midgard Serpent, offspring of Loki and Angrboða and archnemesis of Thor. When he lets go of his own tail the world will end. Kappa (Japanese Folklore): A water sprite. Sometimes hairy. Kelpie (Celtic Mythology): A water horse with ghostly trappings. Sometimes appears as a beautiful woman. Not to be trusted. Koizilla (Avatar: the Last Airbender): At the end of season 1, Aang fuses with La, the Ocean Spirit to become Koizilla: the wrath of the ocean embodied in awesome fish-monster form. Kraken (Greek Mythology. Also, real life.): Sometimes referred to as the giant squid. But also a thing released in Clash of the Titans. (Don’t release it!) Leviathan (The Bible): The Original Biblical Sea Monster. Hangs out near the Hellmouth. Lion Turtle (Avatar: the Last Airbender): Giant, ancient, looks like an island, gives pretty great advice. The Little Mermaid (Hans Christian Andersen/Disney): The heroine of one of Andersen’s most beloved tales, the Little Mermaid falls in love with a human prince, and…well, the Disney version is much less complicated. Very big in Copenhagen. Makara (Hindu Mythology): Any creature that is half land animal on top with the bottom half of an acquatic creature; so: person + seal, or wildebeest + whale. Makara! Marsh-wiggle (Narnia Chronicles): Extremely private, pessimistic humanoid creatures that live in the marshes of Narnia. Mega Shark (Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, Mega Shark Vs. Crocosaurus): A large Shark who is the sworn enemy of Giant Octopus, Crocosaurus and good taste. Melusine (European Folklore): Female spirit who hangs out in springs and rivers. Kind of like a mermaid. Merpeople (Folklore from All Over): People who live in the water. Often they have fish tails. Moby Dick (Moby Dick): A misunderstood white whale who only wants to give Captain Ahab a love tap.

Sea monsters are what makes our tv screens worth the dough! There are many sea monsters in movies ranging from deadly sharks to extinct dinosaurs to aliens and kaiju. But we are not including kaiju in this video since they would obviously top the list of sea monsters in movies. From the appearance of a legendary sea blob, to the bloody body of a Mermaid on the beach, Here are 10 Mythical Sea Creatures Discovered! Subscribe to Epic Wildlife http://goo.gl/6rzs5u Let's Connect -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com/ -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife 5. The bones of a mythical water demon were said to have been discovered. The ‘Kappa’ comes from ancient Japanese folklore … and refers to creatures described as humanoid in appearance, with blue or green scaly skin and webbed feet. The slippery cryptids are about the size of a child, and are said to dwell in lakes or ponds. They’ll sometimes jump out of the water to attack people … and sometimes pull their victims back to the water to drown them. There’s speculation that the creatures might actually be a misidentified Giant Japanese Salamander … large amphibians known to grab at prey with their powerful jaws. A set of mummified remains purporting to show a webbed hand has been displayed in public for the first time. The foot and arm are said to have come from a Kappa that was shot and killed in 1818. Many such bones are claimed to belong to the water demon … but thus far science hasn’t been able to prove their existence -- or to disprove it, either. 4. Werewolves are creatures found on land. But there are some sea animals found in Arctic waters that seem to share a behavior with the lupine cryptids. Zooplankton (zoe-uh-PLANKton) are known to participate in one of the planet’s great migrations. Each night, millions of them feed at the ocean’s surface. But they flee to the dark depths when the sun comes up … that’s when predators can more easily see and hunt them. But during the winter, when the Arctic region is without sun for several months, the zooplankton (zoe-uh-PLANKton) still make their regular migrations … but instead of timing their action to the sun, they adopt a lunar schedule. That is, their migrations from the surface coincide with the rising of the moon over the horizon. 3. Ningen (nin-jen) means “human” in Japanese. And these creatures have reportedly been spotted by crew members aboard Japanese whale research ships in the Antarctic. They’re said to be completely white in color, and can measure over 98 feet long. Their immense size has led some witnesses to believe they’d seen a foreign submarine. Humanoid in shape, these strange creatures are said to exhibit facial feature like eyes and a mouth. They have hands with five digits, arms, and legs. Although some accounts suggest they don’t have legs at all … but have fins, or tails like mermaids that helps them navigate the icy waters. Since they only appear at night, proof of their existence has been difficult to document. The few photos taken of the Ningen are indistinct at best, and highly suspect. That causes many to doubt their existence. 2. The bloody remains of a mermaid were thought to have washed up on a beach in Norfolk (nawr-fuhk), in the UK. A fella by the name of Paul Jones was strolling about Great Yarmouth (yar-muth) beach, when he claims to have found the body of a mermaid on the shore. That likely would have put the cryptid out of her element .. Mermaids usually favor tropical environments … not the cold waters of the North Sea. Mr Jones shot a graphic video, which he later posted to Facebook. The rotting corpse appears to be a humanoid body with the tail of a fish … but its torso has been torn open, revealing the creature’s internal organs. The humanlike skull and the animal’s tail appear to be intact. After posting video and pictures of the creature online, a lot of people seem to agree with Mr Jones … and are convinced that this is actually a mermaid. Others are more skeptical … saying the creature in the picture is the decomposed body of a seal. What do you think? 1. A mythical sea blob first spotted in 1898 was seen for the first time in more than a century. Some even had doubts that the creature even existed. But it was recently located off the coast of Monterey, California. Scientists using a remote operated vehicle identified the exceptionally large ‘larvacean’ (larva-see-un) … and confirmed it as the missing sea blob. The creature is nearly transparent, and has structures known as ‘houses’ that surround it. The structure serves to sift food particles from the water and screen out materials that might clog up the filtration process. It was first identified during an expedition to Valdivia in Chile around 1900, when two specimens were collected and named B.Charon (kair-un) … ‘Charon’ coming from Greek mythology and referring to the ferryman of the River Styx. The newly found specimen measures around 9 centimeters long .. that’s considered to be a giant larvacean (larva-see-un) … they normally grow to under a centimeter in length. But in the deep sea, larger sizes are not uncommon.

You won't believe that fishermen actually caught these gigantic sea monsters! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg SyFy recently aired the third film in their so-bad-its-good “Sharknado” series, prompting some to wonder if airborne, tornado-based sharks could actually be real. Okay, so no one is really wondering that. Still, though, the ocean continues to represent a great unknown to us, providing home to countless species, many of which remain a mystery to humanity. The more we learn about what lurks deep below the surface, the more we realize still remains uncovered. With two-thirds of the Earth’s surface covered in water, it stands to reason that a great deal of that space remains unexplored. Of course, just because humankind hasn’t covered every iota of ground along the ocean floor, it doesn’t mean that those areas are uninhabited. All we know for sure is that the truly deepest depths of the world’s oceans continue to offer surprises, even as scientific technology becomes increasingly advanced. New species unlike any others known before are routinely discovered, with entirely new and alien biomes in extreme environments that no life had even been thought possible have challenged our very notions of what life is and how it has evolved. Amidst the cold darkness of a low-lying ocean area with depths that no sunlight can penetrate lies an alien world of incredibly rare and mysterious species. While many are simple, harmless omnivores, they share the ocean floor with some pretty unsettling forces. These ocean-based creatures – those that we know about, anyway – change everything we think we know about fish. Each one has at least one predominant feature that stands out as being unlike anything seen before. Think you know sharks? Well, how about one with a saw-like nose or a frilly, eel-like body. Think you’ve seen some big fish? How about a 17-metre long swimmer or a 900-pound squid or even a 5,000-pound behemoth sunfish? Lurking within the ocean are a number of deadly, threatening, vicious creatures that are naturally designed and programmed to hunt and stalk their prey. Thankfully, most of these monsters live at pressures that humans could never survive at – not that they would survive long down there, anyway. In recent years, Hollywood has sparked a fascination with zombies, aliens and other forces that exist beyond the realms of our planet and that are not steeped in reality. Despite that, some of the strangest and most terrifying creatures in the universe lie beneath the surface of bodies of water with which we are, at least partially, familiar. As we sit on a beach staring out at the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, we remain blissfully oblivious to all that lurks within. This list seeks to open the door to an entire world of deep sea activity, featuring a cast of creepy and spooky characters that few even know exist. These 10 fish, some of whom may seem to be borne out of your darkest nightmares, are all very real and may give you second thoughts the next time you foray into the ocean. And these are just the ones we know about… Check out these other awesome videos! 10 Shockingly Large Creatures That Actually Exist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9odlL5Ti3dc 10 Things That Will Happen When Humans Go Extinct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ml_awEqbEE Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/ayinmaiden (Mon to Thu, ~10/11pm EST) The Kraken appeared at sea, north of Freedich Island. We rallied as many players as we could to take it down. But of course, the enemy faction was there too so whoever was not on a cannon (that's me!) was to be on PvP duty in case we get attacked by enemies. I wanted to watch the fight tho so at first, I was just watching from the deck. After a bit, I got bored and decided to go out and join the fight.:) I shortened the video quite a bit coz there was a lot of just sitting around watching the cannons go off and random attacks by a couple of enemy ships. We had a BLAST! The lag was REAL though! Oh and we ended up getting the Kraken pretty low but didn't manage to kill it :P ----------------------- Related Links ----------------------- http://www.ign.com/wikis/archeage/World_Bosses Full ArcheAge playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfGO6nwLkgL2oYfMe5ORLCtX8ToEoz-gW ------------------------------------------------------------ ★ PROMOS! ★ ------------------------------------------------------------ ♥ If you like what I do, you can show your support here: - https://www.ayinmaiden.com/support ♥ I also hold monthly giveaways! - https://www.ayinmaiden.com/giveaways ♥ Get updates on games and giveaways by following my Twitter or subscribing to my YouTube channel! ♥ With the support of ArenaNet Play Guild Wars 2 for Free! - http://guildwars2.go2cloud.org/SH3W Get Guild Wars 2 Expansions! - http://guildwars2.go2cloud.org/SH5A ------------------------------------------------------------ ★ SOCIAL MEDIA ★ ------------------------------------------------------------ Website - https://www.ayinmaiden.com Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/ayinmaiden Twitter - https://twitter.com/ayinmaiden Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/ayinmaidenprod Google+ - https://plus.google.com/u/0/+AyinMaiden

And could some of our favorite fairy tale creatures possibly be out there somewhere in one form or another? In this video, we’ll explore ten mythical creatures that might be out there just waiting to be discovered. While the giant bat known as an ahool hasn’t been confirmed, climate change may cause bats to increase in size, making the ahool a real possibility, if it hasn’t already evolved. Kappas are mischievous Japanese water imps, that may actually be disguised as giant salamanders! The chupacabra is known for harming livestock, but humans may be to blame for this creature that may ultimately be canine in nature. Before vampires got a Hollywood makeover, they were often depicted as fearsome creatures. But they may actually be blending in among us as we speak, because it turns out that there are simple medical conditions that can cause people to exhibit vampiric behavior. The oceans cover the majority of our planet, and hold mysteries we can only dream about. Creatures like the massive kraken and huge sea serpent might be lurking somewhere in the depths. Dragons have always been one of the most popular mythical creatures, and some dinosaur fossils may make you think they’ve already walked on the Earth! And they might not be magic, but animals resembling unicorns have actually been found more than once.
