No Country For Old Men: Ending Explained

11:55
The Coen brothers’ 2007 film No Country for Old Men is not your typical Western: the hero doesn’t win, or even survive, the villain gets away, and the ending isn’t a shootout but rather a slow, calm, monologue by a character who was the least involved of the three main characters. The final scene, much debated by fans and critics, does however give us a window into the movie’s deeper meaning and the Coens’ pessimistic worldview. Complex Character: Anton Chigurh

This was for a film class presentation. The points I bring up in the video are only opinion, and is some cases may be entirely wrong. Anton may very well have killed the accountant; scenes like these, like many in the movie, are up to interpretation. To me, I say the accountant did not die, because I'm appealing to the Anton character having a set of morals, and acting on those morals from what I interpreted. Feel free to give your thoughts and comment.

No Country for Old Men: Josh Brolin's Unauthorized Behind the Scenes

09:20
A piece featuring additional cast and crew interview snippets and behind-the-scenes footage. Directed & Produced by Josh Brolin. We find comments from Joel and Ethan Coen, Jones, Bardem, Graf, Brolin, Macdonald, production supervisor Karen Getchell, associate producer Dave Diliberto and actor Woody Harrelson. It's actually a funny tongue-in-cheek mockumentary. From the film's collector's edition Blu-ray bonus features. Here's Josh Brolin's real comments about Coen brothers: Q: When other actors have described working with them, they’ve said they’re like one mind in two bodies. Is that the feeling you have working with them? Yeah, but you have to understand I’ve done years of publicity on them. We all play up this thing - George does and I do - we all play up this thing about how weird and f*cking strange they are, and quiet, and all this stuff. But it’s really not. Like, Ethan said ‘I saw you on a talk show the other day when we were coming out with Hail, Caesar! and I felt so bad for you.’ Because there was a moment where I didn’t believe my own bullsh*t anymore. You tell the press things like ‘they’re really weird and they’re like one mind in two heads’ and [the press] are like, ‘one mind in two heads, that’s a good soundbite’, or whatever it is. You just lend yourself to it and you know you’re doing it. I just caught myself, in an interview in front of millions of people and I died in my own bullsh*t for a couple of seconds. The truth of the matter is, they’re the most pleasant, collaborative, incredibly creative guys I’ve ever worked with. There’s nothing I would say no to. It could be horrendous and I’d still say yes. They could say ‘we’re going to do a Walt Disney story about pornography’, and I’d be like ‘great, let’s do it’. I don’t care. I just get it, it’s fun being with them. And it’s not necessarily fun, I’m not on the set laughing the whole time, but I very much appreciate their level of discomfort and what I think makes them great writers. That’s all they have you know.

No Country for Old Men - Crossing The Border (HD)

03:54
Wounded himself, Moss drives the pick-up to the nearby Rio Grande where he buys a jacket from some passing youths on the border bridge, and he also tosses the money case into some brush along the bank. He covers his bloody shirt with the jacket and, posing as a "drunk Mexican" waves the bottle of beer drunkenly at the half-sleeping Mexican border guard as he stumbles past to cross over into Mexico; the sleepy guard is unconcerned with his identity. In the morning he is awakened by members of a Norteño Band who he pays to take him to a hospital. I do not own nor take credit for the clips uploaded here. All credit goes to the creatorsowners. Desert Aire Manager: Well, I'd say he's at work. Do you want to leave a message? Anton Chigurh: Where does he work? Desert Aire Manager: I can't say. Anton Chigurh: Where does he work? Desert Aire Manager: Sir, I ain't at liberty to give out no information about our residents. Anton Chigurh: Where does he work? Desert Aire Manager: Did you not hear me? We can't give out no information.

No Country for Old Men - An explanation

14:54
No Country for Old Men is a 2007 movie directed, written, and edited by Joel and Ethan Cohen. Based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name. Its enigmatic title actually comes from the first stanza of William Butler Yeast’s poem "Sailing to Byzantium", first published in the 1928 collection The Tower. This film has been defined as a “neo-western movie” a description which fits it well. Except perhaps that the term neo might suggest that the Western genre is dead and buried. In this video, I am going to analyse No Country for Old Men from both a narrative and visual point of view. This analysis will allow us to understand the meaning of that ending which has been unjustly defined as disappointing, arbitrary, strained and soulless. Besides, it will also try to explain why Anton Chigurh is such a disturbing character. Yes, very, very disturbing. Enjoy!

No Country for Old Men is a 2007 American thriller written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name. The film stars Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin, and tells the story of an ordinary man to whom chance delivers a fortune that is not his, and the ensuing cat-and-mouse drama, as three men crisscross each other's paths in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas. Themes of fate, conscience and circumstance re-emerge that the Coen brothers have previously explored in Blood Simple and Fargo. In the 2007 film No Country for Old Men, Anton Chigurh, played by Javier Bardem, cleans and stitches his own wounds with stolen supplies, after his leg is badly injured by a shotgun blast. He first disinfects the site of the injury with a solution of iodine, then injects an anesthetic (lidocaine) before suturing the wound. No Country For Old Men - "Blood Trails"

03:56
"Blood Trails" by Carter Burwell. There was this boy I sent to the electric chair in Huntsville here a while back. My arrest and my testimony. He killed a 14-year-old girl. Papers said it was a crime of passion, but he told me there wasn't any passion to it. Told me that he'd been planning to kill somebody for about as long as he could remember. Said that if they turned him out he'd do it again. Said he knew he was going to hell, be there in about 15 minutes. I don't know what to make of that. I surely don't. It's not that I'm afraid of it. I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job. But I don't want to push my chips forward and go out there and meet something I don't understand. A man would have to put his soul at hazard. He'd have to say "Okay, I'll be a part of this world".

The Sound of No Country for Old Men

02:41
Joel and Ethan Coen's 2007 "No Country for Old Men" is considered by many to be a modern classic and one of the best of the 21st century. This neo-noir Western is famous for its absence of a traditional score and instead favors to tell it's story through brilliant pacing, beautiful cinematography and an immersive world of sound and audio. From Chigurh's makeshift silencer to the hiss of his cattle stunner, the sound design of this film is impeccable. The main sound editor was Skip Lievsay and the main sound mixing team was also Skip Lievsay along with Craig Berkey, Greg Orloff, and Peter Kurland. No Country for Old Men – The Nature of Adaptation

22:05
Spoilers (duh) Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=4054204 Hey guys, Here's the new video! It's been a year in the making, mostly because I actually wrote it as a thesis paper for my film class and couldn't share it publicly until it was graded. It's focused on the adaptation of No Country for Old Men from novel to film. Both forms of the story are very similar, but this video explores the technical translation and the application of cinematic tools and techniques by the Coens to realize the film. Hopefully you guys enjoy. I'm going to be moving up to university pretty soon. Video production is going to slow way down. I know I haven't produced that much content this year as I used to, and I'm sorry for that because I really would have liked to. Part of it is due to the fact that I'm busy with plenty of other things, and part of it is that I have to come up with an original idea before sharing it with you guys. I'll keep in touch. I won't be ending the video essays any time soon. All the best, Carlos Twitter: @cdrf6873 Instagram: @cdleoriveraf
