How to implement strong password verify function on Oracle database

03:36
Establishing and enforcing limitations on password complexity, expiration, lockout, and reuse will reduce the risk that threat agents may gain access by exploiting a weakness in these settings. Create a strong password verify function and attach the function to default or custom profile which will be assigned to all user accounts created in the database. Following values are recommended for the password profile options:- failed_login_attempts=10- password_life_time=90- password_reuse_max=20- password_reuse_time=365- password_lock_time=1- password_grace_time=3

Oracle E-Business Suite Account Password Decryption Threat Explored

44:57
Oracle E-Business Suite end-user account passwords may be decrypted and used to commit fraud or bypass application controls. This inherent security weakness in the application can be fixed in most implementations, however, it seldom is. Continuing our webinar series on the Hidden Security Threats in Oracle E-Business Suite, this one hour educational webinar highlights the threats associated with this decryption of passwords, demonstrates how easily it can be exploited, and provides the steps required to fix it.

My profile is my password, verify me!

00:32
Full Title: My profile is my password, verify me!: the privacy/convenience tradeoff of facebook connect Authors: Serge Egelman Abstract: We performed a laboratory experiment to study the privacy tradeoff offered by Facebook Connect: disclosing Facebook profile data to third-party websites for the convenience of logging in without creating separate accounts. We controlled for trustworthiness and amount of information each website requested, as well as the consent dialog layout. We discovered that these factors had no observable effects, likely because participants did not read the dialogs. Yet, 15% still refused to use Facebook Connect, citing privacy concerns. A likely explanation for subjects ignoring the dialogs while also understanding the privacy tradeoff - our exit survey indicated that 88% broadly understood what data would be collected - is that subjects were already familiar with the dialogs prior to the experiment. We discuss how our results demonstrate informed consent, but also how habituation prevented subjects from understanding the nuances between individual websites' data collection policies. This tutorial series is part of SQL expert exam certification training. if you are preparing for SQL certification you can use my tutorials. This SQL Tutorial is a part of free training. We can also say that SQL tables are kind of data structure which are used by database for efficient storage of data. To create a table in our database we use SQL CREATE TABLE command. SQL CREATE TABLE is a type of DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE also known as DDL. To Create a table in your schema you will require CREATE TABLE system privilege. In our future videos we will see what are system and object privileges and how to grant them to a user. Today for this video we will be using Sample schema HR which already has all the necessary privileges. Ohk Let's see the syntax. CREATE TABLE table name ( column name1 Data-Type(size), column name2 Data-Type(size), ..... ); CREATE TABLE is an oracle reserved word or say an Oracle key word whereas There are 3 different ways of creating a table in Oracle database. Creating a table using Command Line Interface (CLI) in Oracle database For demonstrating how to create table in oracle database using CLI, I'll be using Command prompt. Thats how we create table using command prompt. you can check your table structure by DESCRIBE command for that just write DESC and your table name. Like this Another way of creating a table is by using Graphic user interface (GUI) in Oracle database To demonstrate how to create table using GUI we will use SQL developer. Lets open our SQL developer I am connected to HR schema if you do not know how to create a connection to database using SQL developer please watch my oracle database tutorial 4 that explains database connectivity using SQL developer and command prompt. Link for this video is in the description below. So lets create a table. Creating a table using SQL developer is very easy we do not have to fire any query here. Let's start First of all right click on your connection in which you want to create a table and choose schema browser. This will open a separate schema browser pane or you can expend your connection by clicking this + sign and then right click on table and choose New Table. However I prefer working with schema browser so let's skip to schema browser pane here from the first drop-down list you can choose connection name and in the second drop down list you can choose what database objects you want to work with we want to create a table thus I'll choose table and then click this arrow here and choose option for new table Ok we have created a table wizard first of all give a unique name to your table and add some column as well. For this, click the green plus button. Now we already have a column so give it some name. Also choose a datatype from the list and specify any size you can check this not null column if in case you want to make this a mandatory column you can also specify default value and constraint If you want to make this column a primary key you can click here In my future video i'll show you what are these constraints and different ways of applying them on a column in a table. for this video we will concentrate on create table only so when you are done with all your columns click ok Thats your table You can double click on your table here and can see its structure. Thats it

Create new database (name: ACMEDW), unlock OWBSYS use and apply password-123456 in Oracle 11g

20:18
Creating the database We can install a new database using Database Configuration Assistant 1. The first step is to specify what action to take. Since we do not have a database created, we'll select the Create a Database option in Step 1. 2. This step will offer the following three options for a database template to select:  General Purpose or Transaction Processing  Custom Database  Data Warehouse We are going to choose the Data Warehouse option for our purposes 3. This step of the database creation will ask for a database name. Since we're creating this database for the data warehouse of ACME Toys and Gizmos Company, we'll choose a name that reflects this—ACME for the company name and DW for data warehouse, resulting in a database name of ACMEDW. As the database name is typed in, the SID (or Oracle System Identifier) is automatically filled in to match it. 4. This step of the database creation process asks whether we want to configure Enterprise Manager. The box is checked by default and leave it as is. 5. On this screen (step 5) we can set the database passwords on the system accounts using a different one for each account, or by choosing one password for all four. We're going to set a single password on all four, but for added security in a production environment, it is a good idea to make a different password for each. Click on the option to Use the Same Administrative Password for All Accounts and enter a password. 6. This step is about storage. We'll leave it at the default of File System for storage management. The other two options are for more advanced installations that have greater storage needs. 7. This step is for specifying the locations where database files are to be created. This can be left at the default for simplicity 8. The next screen is for configuring recovery options. We're up to step 8 now. If we were installing a production database, we would want to make sure to use the Flash Recovery option and to Enable 22 WE-IT TUTORILAS PHNO:8097071144/55 Archiving. Flash Recovery is a feature Oracle has implemented in its database to provide a location that is managed by the database. It stores backups and files needed to recover a database in the event of disk failure. With Flash Recovery Area specified, we can recover data that would otherwise be lost in a system failure. 9. 9. This step is where we can have the installation program create some sample schemas in the database for our reference, and specify any custom scripts to run. The text on the screen can be read to decide whether they are needed or not. We don't need either of these for this book, so it doesn't matter which option we choose. 10. The next screen is for Initialization Parameters. These are the settings that are put in place to define various options for the database such as Memory options. 11. The next screen is for security settings. For the purposes of this book and its examples, we'll check the box to Revert to pre-11g security settings since we don't need the additional features. However, for a production environment, it is a good idea to leave the default checked to use Oracle's more advanced security features. 12. This step is automatic maintenance and we'll deselect that option and move on, since we don't need that additional functionality. Automatic Maintenance Tasks are tasks that run in predefined maintenance windows of time to perform various preconfigured maintenance operations on the database. 13. The next step (step 13 of 14) is the Database Storage screen referred to earlier. Here the locations of the pre-built data and control files can be changed if needed. They should be left set to the default for simplicity since this won't be a production database. For a production environment, we would want to consider storing datafiles on separate partitions for performance reasons, and to minimize the impact of disk failures on the running database if something goes wrong. 14. The final step has the following three options, and any or all can be selected for creating the database:  Create the database directly  Save the creation options as a template for later use  Save database creation scripts that can be used later to create the database The Next button is grayed out since this is the last screen. So click on the Finish button to begin creating the database using the selections we've just chosen. It will display a summary screen showing what options it will be using to install with.

Identifying & Locking default (service) accounts in Oracle

01:37
Oracle default installation comes up with several database accounts that're opened and have escalated privileges. Oracle database installs with a number of default database user accounts. Upon successful installation of the database, the Database Configuration Assistant automatically locks and expires most default database user accounts. If you perform a manual (without using Database Configuration Assistant) installation of Oracle Database, then no default database users are locked upon successful installation of the database server. Or, if you have upgraded from a previous release of Oracle Database, you might have default accounts from earlier releases. Left open in their default states, these user accounts can be exploited, to gain unauthorized access to data or disrupt database operations. You should lock and expire all default database user accounts. Oracle Database provides SQL statements to perform these operations.

Oracle Administration 30 =The Alert Log File Theory

CREATE TABLE command in sql/oracle,INSERT command in sql/oracle UPDATE,ALTER PASSWORD command in sql, GRANT command, REVOKE command i, CREATE SYNONYM command in sql/oracle, DELETE command in sql/oracle, ALTER TABLE command in sql/oracle, DROP TABLE command in sql/oracle, CREATE INDEX command in sql/oracle, ALTER INDEX command in sql/oracle, DROP INDEX command in sql/oracle, CREATE VIEW command in sql/oracle, DROP VIEW command in sql/oracle USING SQL COMMAND Types of SQL Commands The following sections discuss the basic categories of commands used in SQL to perform various functions. These functions include building database objects, manipulating objects, populating database tables with data, updating existing data in tables, deleting data, performing database queries, controlling database access, and overall database administration. The main categories are DDL (Data Definition Language) DML (Data Manipulation Language) DQL (Data Query Language) DCL (Data Control Language) Data administration commands Transactional control commands Defining Database Structures Data Definition Language, DDL, is the part of SQL that allows a database user to create and restructure database objects, such as the creation or the deletion of a table. Some of the most fundamental DDL commands discussed during following hours include the following: CREATE TABLE ALTER TABLE DROP TABLE CREATE INDEX ALTER INDEX DROP INDEX CREATE VIEW DROP VIEW Manipulating Data Data Manipulation Language, DML, is the part of SQL used to manipulate data within objects of a relational database. There are three basic DML commands: INSERT UPDATE DELETE Selecting Data Though comprised of only one command, Data Query Language (DQL) is the most concentrated focus of SQL for modern relational database users. The base command is as follows: SELECT This command, accompanied by many options and clauses, is used to compose queries against a relational database. Queries, from simple to complex, from vague to specific, can be easily created. The SELECT command is discussed in exhilarating detail during Hours 7 through 16. A query is an inquiry to the database for information. A query is usually issued to the database through an application interface or via a command line prompt. Data Control Language Data control commands in SQL allow you to control access to data within the database. These DCL commands are normally used to create objects related to user access and also control the distribution of privileges among users. Some data control commands are as follows: ALTER PASSWORD GRANT REVOKE CREATE SYNONYM You will find that these commands are often grouped with other commands and may appear in a number of different lessons throughout this book. Data Administration Commands Data administration commands allow the user to perform audits and perform analyses on operations within the database. They can also be used to help analyze system performance. Two general data administration commands are as follows: START AUDIT STOP AUDIT Do not get data administration confused with database administration. Database administration is the overall administration of a database, which envelops the use of all levels of commands. Database administration is much more specific to each SQL implementation than are those core commands of the SQL language. Transactional Control Commands In addition to the previously introduced categories of commands, there are commands that allow the user to manage database transactions. COMMIT Saves database transactions ROLLBACK Undoes database transactions SAVEPOINT Creates points within groups of transactions in which to ROLLBACK SET TRANSACTION Places a name on a transaction Transactional commands are discussed extensively during Hour 6, "Managing Database Transactions."

Black Hat USA 2010: Hacking Oracle From Web Apps 2/5

14:58
Speaker: Sumit Siddharth This talk will focus on exploiting SQL injections in web applications with oracle back-end and will discuss all old/new techniques. The talk will target Oracle 9i,10g and 11g (R1 and R2) It is widely considered that the impact of SQL Injection in web apps with Oracle back-end is limited to extraction of data with the privileges of user mentioned in connection string. Oracle database does not offer hacker friendly functionalities such as openrowset or xp_cmdshell for privilege escalation and O.S code execution. Further, as Oracle by design do not support execution of multiple query in single SQL statement, the exploitation is further restricted. The Talk will highlight attack vector to achieve privilege escalation (from Scott to SYS) and O.S code execution, all by exploiting Oracle SQL injections from web applications. As a number of organizations move to compliances like PCI thereby ensuring that the Card data is always stored encrypted with the private key never stored inside the database. The talk will focus on what hackers are doing in the wild to bypass these and to obtain clear text card data when its only stored encrypted or even when its never stored at all. COMMIT Saves database transactions ROLLBACK Undoes database transactions SAVEPOINT Creates points within groups of transactions in which to ROLLBACK SET TRANSACTION Places a name on a transaction Transactional commands are discussed extensively during Hour 6, "Managing Database Transactions." sql interview questions, sql interview questions and answers, interview questions for freshers,SQL,sql tutorial BEGINNERS,oracle,pl sql,pl/sql,mysql,oracle interview, google interview question, trigger in oracle, dbms, rdbms, oracle tutorial,pl sql basics,pl sql tutorials, pl sql example, sql, sql server ,query, sql query, questions, interview questions, coding interview, sql coding, code , database interview questions and answers, interview questions sql, interview questions, sql server, sql interview, interview sql, interview question sql join ,inner join, group by,select sql, interview questions ,sql basic, PL SQL Programs,PL SQL,PL SQL block,PL SQL Function,PL SQL Package,PL SQL Package body,PL SQL Procedure ,PL SQL Trigger,PL SQLType,PL SQL Type body,CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE,database interview questions and answers, interview questions sql, interview questions, sql server,Procedural Language, interview sql, interview question sql join ,inner join, group by,select sql, interview questions ,sql basic,pl sql variable, oraclecoach, claire rajan, PL SQL,PL SQL block,PL SQL Function,PL SQL Package,PL SQL Package body,PL SQL Procedure,PL SQL Trigger,PL SQLType,PL SQL

DEFCON 18: Hacking Oracle From Web Apps 3/4

14:58
Speaker: Esteban Martínez Fayó Oracle Database Vault was launched a few years ago to put a limit on DBAs unlimited power especially over highly confidential data where it is required by regulations. This presentation will show how this add-on product for Oracle Database performs on this difficult task, first giving an introduction to DB Vault and what protections does it brings, then showing with many examples how it is possible to bypass the protections provided. The attacks demonstrated include getting operating system access to disable DB Vault, SQL Injection and impersonation techniques to bypass DB Vault protections and how it is possible using simple exploits to circumvent DB Vault. These attack examples are accompanied by recommendations on how to protect from them. Also the presentation shows some issues with native database auditing and has a section with additional recommendations to secure DB Vault and conclusions. How to implement VPD in Oracle Database (Part 3)

How to implement VPD (Virtual Private Database) in Oracle Database(9i,10g,11g,12c) Enterprise Edition. PART 3 Video. Links: Part 1 https://youtu.be/JVvtvh3cN1I Part 2 https://youtu.be/xLcin_Wgbvs Part 3 https://youtu.be/mE1cSbmEwnQ Create Security Policies In order for the context package to have any effect on the users interaction with the database, we need to define a security_package for use with the security policy. This package will tell the database how to treat any interactions with the specified table. CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE security_package AS FUNCTION user_data_insert_security(owner VARCHAR2, objname VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2; FUNCTION user_data_select_security(owner VARCHAR2, objname VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2; END security_package; / Next we create the security_package body. CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY Security_Package IS FUNCTION user_data_select_security(owner VARCHAR2, objname VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS predicate VARCHAR2(2000); BEGIN predicate := '1=2'; IF (SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','SESSION_USER') = 'SCHEMAOWNER') THEN predicate := NULL; ELSE predicate := 'USER_ID = SYS_CONTEXT(''SCHEMAOWNER'',''USER_ID'')'; END IF; RETURN predicate; END user_data_select_security; FUNCTION user_data_insert_security(owner VARCHAR2, objname VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS predicate VARCHAR2(2000); BEGIN predicate := '1=2'; IF (SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','SESSION_USER') = 'SCHEMAOWNER') THEN predicate := NULL; ELSE predicate := 'USER_ID = SYS_CONTEXT(''SCHEMAOWNER'',''USER_ID'')'; END IF; RETURN Predicate; END user_data_insert_security; END security_package; / SHOW ERRORS Next we make sure that all users have access to the Security_Package. GRANT EXECUTE ON security_package TO schemaowner,user1,user2; Apply Security Policies to Tables The DBMS_RlS package is used to apply the security policay, implemented by security_package, to the the relevant tables. BEGIN DBMS_RLS.add_policy('SCHEMAOWNER', 'USER_DATA', 'USER_DATA_INSERT_POLICY', 'SEC_ADM', 'SECURITY_PACKAGE.USER_DATA_INSERT_SECURITY', 'INSERT', TRUE); DBMS_RLS.add_policy('SCHEMAOWNER', 'USER_DATA', 'USER_DATA_SELECT_POLICY', 'SEC_ADM', 'SECURITY_PACKAGE.USER_DATA_SELECT_SECURITY', 'SELECT'); END; / Test VPD Finally, test that the VPD is working correctly. Now we will do the test CONNECT user1/user1 INSERT INTO schemaowner.user_data (column1, user_id) VALUES ('User 1', 'HR'); INSERT INTO schemaowner.user_data (column1, user_id) VALUES ('User 2', 'FINANCE'); COMMIT; CONNECT user2/user2 INSERT INTO schemaowner.user_data (column1, user_id) VALUES ('User 1', 'HR'); INSERT INTO schemaowner.user_data (column1, user_id) VALUES ('User 2', 'FINANCE'); COMMIT; CONNECT schemaowner/schemaowner SELECT * FROM schemaowner.user_data; Checking the select option: ------------------------ CONNECT user1/user1 SELECT * FROM schemaowner.user_data; CONNECT user2/user2 SELECT * FROM schemaowner.user_data; Thats all for now
