Aqaba has been an inhabited settlement since 4000 BC profiting from its strategic location at the junction of trading routes between Asia, Africa, and Europe. The early settlement was presumably Edomite in ancient times. It was a centre of the Edomites, and then of the Arab Nabataeans, during the first century B.C. who populated the region extensively. The oldest known text in Arabic alphabet is an inscription found in Jabal Ram 50 km east of Aqaba.

I was so looking forward to arriving in Jordan. The change to the middle east was something I really needed. I love the Jordanian Hospitality, and we were awarded it in droves once we arrived in Aqaba. The city of Aqaba is a port city and an economic free zone along the Red Sea of Jordan. It's absolutely beautiful and now that Turkish Airlines has direct flights from Istanbul, Turkey, it makes it easy to get to. There's enough to keep people occupied in Aqaba Jordan for weeks. Beside the beaches at places like Berenice Beach Club, there is also scuba diving in the Red Sea, ATVing in the desert, and loads of other amazing things to do in Aqaba. Honestly, I'm dying to get back to this city. For my travel photography and article, check out my blog http://www.brendansadventures.com

https://www.arabdivers.jo/en/activities/dive_sites/c-130-hercules-aircraftwreck-or-aqaba-jordan-red-sea The Marine Park's latest attraction was scuttled on 16th of November 2017 and has already become the divers' favorite. After a major ceremony organized by ASEZA and attended from international media and visitors the aircraft's final resting place lies close to the well-known Tank. All hazardous materials like fuel, oil and paint were removed before the sinking 300 meters from shoreline in a depth of 17 meters. The plain structure will become an artificial reef and attract marine life from fish to corals to add a new habitat for Aqaba's diversity of species. The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft and donated from the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The plane serves as the main tactical airlifter for many military forces in more than 70 nations worldwide since the 1950s. Over time it will draw divers within all levels as premier dive location of Aqaba. The Hercules is an impressive sight with a length of 30 meters and a wingspan of 40 meters. We can see the aircraft resting in the sand, schooling reef fish are visiting now the future artificial reef and you can compare over the years the benefit for the entire marine system in the Gulf of Aqaba. Together with more than 20 different dive sites here you can spend a whole diving holiday exploring pristine coral reefs and thrilling wrecks in recreational depths and moderate conditions. For Tec divers this unique site offers now a special challenge – three different wrecks in one dive! Al Shoruk (ship wreck), C-130 Hercules (aircraft wreck) and M42 Duster (anti-aircraft vehicle) waiting for the wreck-addicted diver in Aqaba. #aqaba #Aqaba_Tourism #C130_Hercules #DiveWreck #RedSea #NewDiveSites #Jordan www.arabdivers.jo

The Crossing of the Red Sea is told by Moses in the Book of Exodus 13:17 to 14:29. Moses divided the sea “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. Exodus 14:21” And the Israelites walked on dry ground and crossed the sea, and were followed by the Egyptian army. “26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. 27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. Exodus 14:26-28” This account which is given to us by Moses in the book of Exodus is disputed amongst scholars of today, and it is generally understood, and taught in the same light as that of the great flood in the days of Noah. These teachings are mischievous, and erroneous as they are inconsistent with the clear and simple teachings of Scripture. The discovery of the Red Sea Crossing by Ron Wyatt and his sons provides ample evidence for even the most discerning eye, and it vindicates the Sure Word, and the testimony of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Please watch this video series and you will see how thoroughly Ron and his boys have researched the biblical account, and the geographic waymarks to determine the exact location of the crossing of the Red Sea, and how their research, and their conclusions are in harmony with scripture. You can find out more at the following websites Arc Discovery International http://www.arkdiscovery.com/red_sea_crossing.htm Ron's family Website http://www.ronwyatt.com/home_tmp_6969.html And also the Wyatt museum http://wyattmuseum.com/

At Aqaba Marine Park, the reef drop-off is exceptional and where we spent an amazing day swimming and snorkeling with Dive Aqaba team on board of the boat Laila One. Aqaba’s greatest asset is the Red Sea with fringing reef stretching for over 25 kilometers right down to the Saudi Arabian border. The Red Sea Marine Peace Park is known to be one of the most beautiful diving areas of the world due to the amazing combination of sea life, corals, water transparency and nice weather it offers year round. All three snorkel spots were amazing and teeming with unimaginable walls of coral. The water is crystal clear and we could easily see down at least 30 meters. Although there are interesting things to see in the seagrass and on the coastal bench (lionfish, turbot, pufferfish and small moray eels live in the rocks), the spectacle takes on another dimension when you get closer to the reef drop-off. The sea bed here is exceptional: crowds of damselfish and anthias are drawn to the coral beds, while surgeonfish and butterflyfish with spectacular colours (several of which are endemic to the Red Sea) come and go along the reef.

Aqaba is the only coastal city in Jordan and the largest and most populous city on the Gulf of Aqaba. Situated in southernmost Jordan, Aqaba is the administrative centre of the Aqaba Governorate. The city had a population of 148,398 in 2015 and a land area of 375 square kilometres (144.8 sq mi). Today, Aqaba plays a major role in the development of the Jordanian economy, through the vibrant trade and tourism sectors. The Port of Aqaba also serves other countries in the region. Excavations at Tall Hujayrat Al-Ghuzlan and Tall Al-Magass in Aqaba revealed that the city has been an inhabited settlement since 4000 BC, with a thriving copper production on a large scale. In 64 BC following the Roman conquest of the Levant, they annexed the city and called it Ayla and Aelana. Both Petra and Ayla were under Nabatean influence, but despite the Roman rule, the Nabateans continued to prosper. Ayla reached its peak during Roman times, the great long distance road the Via Traiana Nova led south from Bostra through Amman, terminating in Ayla, where it connected with a west road leading to Philistia and Egypt. Around 106 AD Aqaba was one of the main ports for the Romans. Ayla came under Byzantine Empire rule in 300 AD, where the Aqaba Church was constructed, considered to be the world's very first purpose-built church. A fortress called Helim, was built in the 12th century by the Crusaders, which remains relatively well-preserved today.

The red sea, Jordan is not really red. It is actually as blue as the water can get. This is the sheerest blue I have seen in my life. So where does the name the Red Sea comes from ? Well, it comes from the Red corals that live on its bed. I, unfortunately, could not see them as snorkeling was not on our itinerary. What we did do was go on a long boat cruise in the deep blue sea. This is the closest I got to Israel and Egypt – two countries that I am yet to visit. As you move away from the shore towards the sea, the skyline of Aqaba Jordan starts making its outline clear. You see the hills in the colors of the desert. You can see the hills cut in a pyramidal shape with steps leading to the top – almost like an unfinished pyramid. At places, the change in color of the waters indicated the presence of underwater life. It was tempting to go looking for them, but then who said, all your wishes must come true. You have the option of going for diving and glass bottom boat rides in the Red Sea at Jordan.

Wreck diving in The Red Sea, Aqaba. Jordan History: The Cedar Pride was a Lebanese freighter that sustained extensive damage in a fire in 1982; she was then scuttled for divers and now lies on her port side across two reefs with a surface buoy situated at her stern. The wreck has been colonised by many hard and soft corals which makes this one very stunning dive site. Its interior is very stable and can be explored with swim-throughs and an air pocket amongst many of its features. The ship is about 80m in length and is best explored the seaward side where you can see the deck and intricate structures with perhaps the best feature being the crow’s nest which is covered in coral and really stands out against the clear blue water. - www.aqabasanchor.com A Red filter was used but for some reason, the The GoPro Hero 4 Black didn't adjust it's settings until 1:20 seconds.

Great footage!!! We discover a sea turtle between some corals and as it swims around us, two clown fish swim towards it and fend it away as they nibble near the turtle's neck (possibly for algae). Eventually, as I am filming, the turtle swims within arms reach of me and continues into the blue.
