Most MYSTERIOUS Ocean Facts!

11:50
Check out these top unexplained mysteries of the deep ocean. From strange sounds captured in the deep sea by hydrophones such as the bloop, the train, and julia, to gigantic whirlpools, biggest underwater falls and the milky bioluminescent sea phenomenon. Are deep sea monsters living deep in the ocean? Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "12 Historical Treasures In The Middle East DESTROYED!" video here: https://youtu.be/Nt9mWUpTp1U Watch our "Most HAUNTED Places In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/h9elrDhft9w Watch our "Most DANGEROUS Religious Cults Ever!" video here: https://youtu.be/VTD1qabI3v0 9. Underwater Falls Voted one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. On the Southwestern tip of the island you will find a fascinating illusion. When viewed from above, a runoff of sand and silt deposits creates the impression of an ‘underwater waterfall’. But did you know there are actually real underwater waterfalls? Seven waterfalls have been discovered deep underwater. The tallest waterfall on Earth is not Angel Falls, but an underwater waterfall called Denmark Strait Cataract located in the Atlantic ocean between Greenland and Iceland. It is the world's highest underwater waterfall, with water falling almost 11,500 feet and carries 175 million cubic feet of water per second. It is caused due to temperature differences in the water on either side of the strait. Cold water is denser than warm water. And the eastern side of the strait is a lot colder than the western side. So when the waters meet, the cold water sinks below the warmer water, creating a strong downward flow, which is considered a waterfall. And it's not just waterfalls that are under the ocean. There are huge secret rivers, complete with rapids and islands that flow down the sea shelves out into the desert plains creating river banks and flood plains. Here's a picture of the river Cenote Angelita under the sea of Mexico. These salty rivers carry sediments and minerals and could be vital in sustaining life. The world's sixth largest river, by volume, is below the Black Sea. It is 350 times larger than the Thames and 150 feet deep in places. 8. Milky Sea Phenomenon For over 400 years, sailors told tales of a mysterious event that takes place far out in the Indian Ocean. They would come across miles and miles of milky glowing waters, sometimes stretching as far as the eye could see. In 2005, a group of scientists led by Dr. Steven Miller of the Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, Calif., decided to take a closer look at this story to see if it was true. They managed to register about 235 observations and get a satellite image that showed an area of low lighting in the Indian Ocean about the size of Connecticut. Their samples that they collected indicated the presence of a type of bioluminescent bacteria in the water, known as Vibrio harveyi. This isn't the same kind of bacteria that you might see in waves that use their bright light to ward off predators. This bioluminescent bacteria may actually use light to attract fish, since its favorite place to live is inside a fish's gut. Scientists' guess is that since they only emit a very faint light on their own, they have to gather together to make an impact. Their collective glow can grow to massive, milky sea proportions when their numbers swell to a huge amount -- think 40 billion trillion. They may also congregate to colonize algae. Sounds like a party! It is still only a guess since Dr. Miller and his colleagues haven't determined exactly what causes the bacteria to gather. 7. Unexplained sounds Of course dark, creepy fog can make you jump at anything that goes bump in the night. But what about things that go "bloop" in the sea? With names like "The Bloop," "Train" and "Julia," the sounds have been captured by hydrophones, or underwater microphones, monitored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The decidedly nonspooky nicknames for these sounds do little to dispel the mystery surrounding them. In 1997, NOAA hydrophones 3,000 miles apart picked up one of the loudest sounds ever recorded off the southern coast of South America: the Bloop (which sounds exactly like its name, a bloop). The Bloop mimics marine animal sounds in some ways, but if it were some kind of sea creature it would have to be almost the size of the Eiffel tower for that sound to be heard from 3,000 miles away. So what made the sound? It's anyone's guess but deep-sea monsters aside, NOAA holds the most likely explanation for The Bloop is that it was the sound of a large iceberg fracturing. Sure.... Another weird noise known as Julia sounds almost like someone whining or maybe even singing under water. The eastern equatorial Pacific autonomous array (the fancy name for the network of hydrophones) picked up this strange sound that lasted 15 seconds in 1999.

10 Spectacular Underwater Rivers & Lakes!

12:18
Divers have discovered a whole new world beneath ours filled with underwater lakes, rivers, waterfalls, ponds and even, an ocean. 10 Spectacular Underwater Rivers & Lakes! SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos: https://goo.gl/7xzjzR Don't forget to CHECK OUT our latest upload: https://goo.gl/LUB8Xw The Monterey Submarine Canyon Due to highly lethal concentrations of methane and hydrogen sulfide found within, the newly formed water cannot mix with the surrounding sea. Thus, the potency of the water can be deadly to any diver or animal who swim into it. For this reason, new forms of bacteria and sea creatures have evolved in order to survive this unusual environment. It lies two miles beneath the ocean’s surface in one of the biggest underwater canyons on the west coast— the Monterey Submarine Canyon. The Underwater Torrent of the Black Sea Up to thirty-five meters deep and one kilometer wide, this churning channel snakes sneakily along the belly of the Black Sea. Due to its extremely high level of salinity, the water found here is physically prevented from mixing with the lesser salty waters of the surrounding sea. Scientists from the University of Leeds began tracking the river's progress with an underwater robot until the machine vanished into the cavernous abyss at around 60 kilometers deep. The Hazma River The Amazon river is one of the world’s most diverse passages of water in the world and by far holds the greatest total flow of any river— surpassing the Nile, Mississippi, and the Yangtze combined. To further glorify this rich, natural wonder, there is another spectacular body of water located 4,000 kilometers below its belly. The Hazma river is an underground river named after its discoverer, geophysicist Valiya Hamza, upon its unearthing in the 1980s. What the Amazon beats the latter in length, the Hazma river surpasses with an astonishing 200 kilometers wide at its narrowest point and 400 kilometers wide as its girth. The Cenote Angelita Cenote Angelita, translating to “little angel,” is a natural sinkhole which formed when rocks of limestone in the seabed collapsed to expose groundwater beneath. Famously linked with the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, cenotes were often used as sacrificial sites for ancient Mayan practice and ritual. What renders the Cenote Angelita most remarkable today, however, is the saltwater river found cascading along the bottom. The Denmark Straight Cataract This underwater waterfall rivals even the “world’s highest waterfall” when typed into Google’s search engine. To curb the curiosity of which is the highest, look no further than Angel Falls, in Venezuela’s Canaima National park. At a striking 979 meters, this wondrous wonderwork is so tall it dissipates long before hitting its highly anticipated destination down below. The Denmark Straight Cataract is an astonishing 3500 meters tall and is nestled nicely under the Atlantic Ocean between Greenland and Iceland. The Unnamed Lake of Antarctica Along Antarctica's icy exterior exists the largest subglacial lake, Lake Vostok, and as it's submerged under 3.7 kilometers of ice, scientists have yet to uncover the mysteries that lie within these unknown waters. The second largest subglacial lake and ecological epicenter is another fully submerged spectacle spanning Antarctica’s crystal tundra. With a measurement of 100 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide, researchers associate the lake's shape with that of a ribbon. The Hot Tub of DespairThis brine pool is set 1,000 meters below the water’s surface in the Gulf of Mexico. According to science, the brine pool was formed over a million years ago after the great gulf evaporated. Researchers determine that as heaps of salt were left behind, the brine submerged and then formed an underwater pool with the resurgence of new water. Hot Tub of Despair is so toxic that its lack of oxygen and abundance of methane would devastate any marine life who tried to venture near. The Mauritius Waterfall Situated off the coast of an island called the Republic of Mauritius, 2,000 miles from Africa’s southeastern coast. The secret behind the illusion is due to sand and silt deposits which flow through the area and enhance the color of the water, to reveal a fluctuating cascade of silk transcending to who knows where. An Ocean Inside the Earth When scientists speculated that earth's water was formed by the earth itself, it's due to evidence of an ocean under our ocean. Findings have uncovered a remarkable body of water located 660 kilometers within the earth's crust. The large reservoir of water sits beneath eastern Asia and is reported to contain more water than three times the amount of all the world's oceans combined. Located within a massive mantle known as the transition zone, this region of water exists in a mineral known as ringwoodite.

World Water Day - Restoring the Danube River and Black Sea

06:57
The most international river basin in the world, the Danube River basin, includes territories of 19 countries. Over the past 150 years, agricultural, industrial and municipal pollution severely damaged the ecosystems in the basin and the quality and quantity of water. The impact on the environment was so massive that a 'dead zone' caused by oxygen depletion formed in the western part of the Black Sea. An international plan, with support of UNDP, helped to restore the river basin and revive the Black Sea ecosystem upon which millions depend for their livelihoods. UNDP identified the major sources of pollution, developed an investment strategy and strengthened institutions that govern the Danube River basin. The UNDP-GEF 49,5 million USD programme helped to catalyze 3,5 billion USD investments into reforms of governing institutions and systems, and into new agricultural and industrial practices. As a result, an effective trans-boundary waters management programme was implemented during the 1990's. The strategic plan and incoming funding enabled the countries along the Danube to monitor and improve water quality and quantity by establishing 75 water quality monitoring stations throughout the basin. With the support of the programme, the governments instituted a damage control system to minimize accidental chemical spills and agreed to reduce nutrient pollution. Through these reforms and investments, industrial, municipal and agricultural pollution was reduced, virtually eliminating the dead zone in the Black Sea and leading to a significant eco-system recovery. UNDP works with over 100 countries to modify agriculture, industry, mining, fishing and wastewater management to lessen ecological damage to the water systems. In this way, conflicts can be prevented, security and livelihoods improved, habitats protected and health risks minimized.
Europe River Cruising with Scenic | David Whitehill in Belgrade

For more information visit: https://www.scenic.com.au/tour/black-sea-explorer/4117 Read below for full transcript: What an amazing way to see Europe. For many of us Serbia doesn't immediately jump out as a tourism hot spot but Scenic do have a thing or two up their sleeve. I’m on a 14-night river cruise taking in some of the best of Europe. I have to admit that when I first heard about the iron gates here in Serbia I was thinking more along the lines of the ‘Game of Thrones’, but they are in fact these two enormous dams that book-end this beautiful stretch of the Danube river. The only thing is it takes about half an hour to pass through so just a moment.. That's definitely better. This part of the Danube marks the border between Romania and Serbia, with its enormous rock faces.. Quite literally. Before we head off exploring though let me introduce your luxurious floating hotel. Life on board the Scenic Jewel is fairly extravagant, everyone gets their very own butler, it's all inclusive food and drink, this is simply your moment to indulge. And to make sure it's a true five-star experience a bit of pampering never goes astray David: “Thank you Tiana” Tiana: “You’re welcome” But life in Europe is what we're here to see and on show is Belgrade’s two thousand year history, My Scenic guide Milosh was born and raised here and gives me the lowdown on the culture. David: “And the Serbians you guys are very passionate about this place? Milosh: “Yeah of course you know this may be a problem with this area because all the people here are a bit emotional you know so when you're speaking about even not about our city but maybe about sports, politics you know singing, you know it we are quite emotional”. David: “Good place to have a chat with the locals” Milosh: “Yeah definitely" Even back to the Roman days this fortress was pivotal in the power struggle that went on here because if you had the fortress it means that you're in control of the rivers, that allowed obviously trade. Now all the Turks are up here for over 300 years their enemy the Austrians they were set up just two kilometers away, you can see them, would have been fairly stressful times. The Belgrade fortress was the city's birthplace and walking around the grounds you really get a sense of just how important it's been throughout the ages and as a Scenic exclusive we wrap up the day here in true Serbian style.

Hidden Underwater River Flowing Under the Ocean in Mexico HD 2014 HD

01:08
Hidden Underwater River Flowing Under the Ocean in Mexico Located in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, there's a secret underwater river called Cenote Angelita (Spanish for Little Angel) that can be found after a 10 to 15 minute drive south of Tulum. It is arguably the most unique formation of this kind: a thin layer of hydrogen sulfate separates the saltwater from the fresh water above it, allowing scuba divers to swim along this underwater creation, which looks a lot like a regular river would on the ground. There are even fallen trees and leaves on both sides of the "shores", making this seascape look all the more surreal! Cenotes are actually deep natural pits, or sinkholes, characteristic of Mexico, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Most Beautiful Canal Cities In The World 2017 HD" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THkJaPQZrCs -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Ukraine River Cruise Travel Video - Dnieper River Tour in Europe

17:15
Our Ukraine Cruise is a real gem. This once hidden and unknown country is now open to tourists. History dates back over 1000 years and you can see wonderful landmarks in the capital city of Kiev. The Dnieper River offers you an up close and personal view of the culture and people that call the Ukaine home. Read more Information about our Ukraine River Cruise: http://www.rivercruises.net/europe/ukraine/ Welcome to Ukraine, one of Europe's last hidden treasures. Long in the shadow of the Soviet Empire, this lovely country, rich in history, culture and natural beauty, regained its independence in 1991 and opened its doors to the world. From gorgeous Odessa, the gateway to the Black Sea, to Yalta and its world-class beaches, to Zaporozhye, the home of the fearless Cossack warriors, and to cosmopolitan Kiev, with its wide, tree-lined boulevards and a thousand-year-old history, Ukraine is a true treasure chest of natural and man-made attractions waiting to be explored. We are pleased to introduce to you this new and exciting travel destination in the hopes that we may one day share in the pleasure of your company as you discover Ukraine with us. One of the best ways to explore this diverse country is by cruising the magnificent Dnieper River. At 1,420 miles in length, it is the third longest river in Europe, after the Volga and the Danube. The benefits of a river cruise are many. No packing and unpacking, as our floating hotel will take you from one exciting destination to the next. All your meals are included, as are most of your shore excursions. Our on-board staff of guides, cruise directors, and talented entertainers will delight you with their lectures, music, and hospitality. Sit back and enjoy an unforgettable journey from Odessa to Kiev, and all of the unique Ukrainian stops in between. As either a starting or ending point for our cruises, Odessa is sure to delight you. A mild climate and a youthful, vibrant population have drawn the rich and the famous to this Black Sea port for centuries. Its most famous citizen, the French Duke De Richelieu, transformed the city into a thriving center of commerce and culture. Its Opera House, and the Potemkin Stairs, are world-renowned, while its tree-lined promenades and classical buildings painted in pastel hues invoke another era. Life on board our floating hotel will be as exciting as the ports you will be visiting. Our first stop, Sevastopol, is home to the Russian Navy's feared Black Sea Fleet. Closed to foreign visitors until the early 1990s, Sevastopol today is a city of clean and orderly boulevards, neo-classical Russian buildings, and the unique Panorama Museum. As our ship sails from Sevastopol to Yalta, the optional bus excursion across the Crimean peninsula will take you to see the unique cliff-side fortress of Swallow's Nest. The historic Livadia Palace, the location where Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill decided the fate of post-war Europe, will be equally impressive. Stunningly situated between the Crimean mountains and the Black Sea, Yalta has been a major destination for poets, politicians, artists, writers, and the Russian Czar's family. Kherson is the gateway to the Dnieper delta. Here, you will board smaller boats that will take you to an authentic Ukrainian fishing village. A local family will host an al fresco lunch, accompanied with some improvised entertainment. Zaporozhye, a name that conjures up images of fierce, pony-tailed warriors, is also the home of the first independence movements of Ukraine. Here you will enjoy a tour of the city, and a visit to the unique Zaporozhye Cossack museum. The optional Cossack show will feature their horsemanship, weapon skills, and music. Home to Ukraine's favorite son, Taras Shevchenko, Kanev is both his birthplace and burial ground. After a tour of his museum, you will enjoy a special shashlik barbecue. There will be wine, entertainment, and a selection of songs performed by our enthusiastic flower girls. Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, is also recognized as the birthplace of Kievan Rus, or Russia. It came to be in 988, when Prince Vladmir the Great baptized the whole country and introduced Christianity to this part of the world. Today, it's a city of wide boulevards, giant chestnut trees, and a smiling and youthful population. The people are friendly, the city is beautiful. We hope you have enjoyed our short intro to Ukraine. we also hope we will have the pleasure of your company in the nearest future, as we sail along the beautiful Black Sea and the romantic Dnieper River.
