LIVCD - Rural Tourism - An Authentic Lebanon

03:02
Rural tourism is becoming increasingly popular with growing numbers of international tourists looking for traditional attractions, and Lebanese taking short vacations to explore their country’s many areas of outstanding natural beauty. LIVCD is playing a leading role in supporting rural tourism initiatives and contributing to the growth of Lebanon’s tourism sector. LIVCD facilitated the development of the National Rural Tourism Strategy in collaboration with Lebanon’s tourism public and private stakeholders. The strategy was later adopted by the Lebanese Government. LIVCD actively participated in the implementation of the action plan in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism. LIVCD partnered with tourism actors from the private sector to expand economic opportunities, increase incomes, and create job opportunities in rural areas. Partnerships aimed to: • Improve the quality and diversify the range of rural tourism products and services through partnerships and leveraged investments with local tourism partners. • Create synergies resulting in the upgrade and expansion of projects along the rural tourism value chain. Thanks to LIVCD: • 1,034 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) including farmers and other organizations located all over Lebanon received business development services. • More than 20 MSMEs received assistance and training on ways to apply for and access financial services and loans. • 960 females were assisted to improve existing businesses and help in establishing new businesses. • 498 rural guides and other value chain actors were supported to apply improved practices on eco-guiding and hospitality management. • 171 MSMEs have benefitted from business linkages established by LIVCD. • 859 jobs have been impacted/created. • 1,491 individuals have received training on Marketing and Marketing tools, Quality Standards, Guiding and Tourism Management, Eco-guiding and Guiding Techniques.

TRAVEL STORY | AGROTOURISM AT CAMERON HIGHLANDS

12:37
The history of agritourism or known as agrotourism was created in 1800s, when families visited farming relatives to escape from the city and experience the farming. Visiting another country became more popular with the widespread use of the automobile in 1920s. The use of cars and vehicles makes them easier to move and to explore other places that require them to do some journey (United States Department of Agriculture). Agrotourism incorporates a wide variety of activities, such as milking cows, feeding the farm animals, tending the bees, picking fruits and many other recreational and outdoor activities. Agrotourism can have significant benefits for farmers, communities and visitors. One of the benefits of agritourism is to educate the visitors and public about agriculture. Other benefits are to preserve farms and farmland, share agricultural heritage and rural life-styles with visitors and preserve rural heritage and traditions (Tourism Extension, Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management). With the rising popularity of agrotourism, Malaysia develops a few destinations for tourists to spend their holidays and engage with various agro activities. We chose to visit Cameron Highlands as it is known as one of the agrotourism destinations in Malaysia. Group members : Suzamira Abdul Ghani Nur Aireen Qamarina Abdul Rahim Nurul Ain Fatin Md. €135,270 for rural recreation projects will boost tourism in Limerick

00:38
Minister of State for Finance & Public Expenditure and Reform and Limerick TD, Patrick O’Donovan, has welcomed the allocation of €135,270 for rural recreation projects in Limerick. “Limerick has been allocated €135,270 for rural recreation projects, which is extremely welcome and will help to boost tourism here in Limerick and in the surrounding region. “This funding is part of €11 million in funding for over 200 projects nationally under the 2017 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme, announced by my colleague Michael Ring, T.D Minister for Rural and Community Development. “The Scheme is part of the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development and is designed to maintain and improve our outdoor recreational infrastructure including for example our green-ways, blueways and walking trails. “Limerick projects receiving grants include · River Walk at Templeathea, Athea · Mullaghareirk/Broadford Ashford walking trails · Attycran Loop, Kilbehenny · Promotion of trail infrastructure in the Ballyhoura region · Shannon Estuary drive, Ballysteen Pier · Clare Glens Loop Walk, Murroe · Darby's Bed Loop Walk, Galbally · Doon Convent Farm Walk · Glin Heritage Walking Trails · Kilfinane - Slievereagh Loop · Knockfierna Famine Memorial Walks · Manor Fields, Adare · Moor Abbey Loop, Galbally · Castleconnell Walk · The marketing and publicity of outdoor recreation amenities, facilities and activities across Limerick, through West Limerick Resourese and Ballyhourna Development “Recreational tourism is growing year on year and so it is crucial we continue to improve facilities and encourage more visitors. Figures from Fáilte Ireland show that the hiking and cycling tourism markets are worth approximately €1.2 billion to the Irish economy. “Aside from the obvious tourism benefits, it’s also hugely important that we maintain and develop our outdoor infrastructure to encourage everyone to keep fit and live a healthy active lifestyle. “Eighty per cent of each project is funded by the Government grant, with Limerick City and County Council making up the difference. “Minister Ring has confirmed to me that he expects to make further announcements under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme in the autumn.”

AcademIK Connections - Self-Determined Development Through Tourism

Duarte Morais, Associate Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management (now at North Carolina State University), tells the story of Lan Yue, a tiny windswept Taiwanese island where a tourism development project failed because the government did not consider the people's cultural mores and knowledge of the local weather patterns. Another story about the Yami people suggests that a community should have the right to represent themselves, formulate their identity, and decide what aspects of their culture are showcased to the outside world.

A Walk Around Glastonbury And The Somerset Levels

37:43
In this video Abbie experiments with a new walk. She begins in Glastonbury near the Rural Life Museum, then heads up to the famous Glastonbury Tor and St Michaels Tower. From there, her route takes her onto the flat lands of the Somerset Levels, alongside waterways, marshes and metal detectors. She sees herons, dippers, guillemots, egrets and more, gets slightly stuck on the wrong side of a water way, climbs countless fences, and loses a path. Thankfully she makes it back to town in one piece, and ends the walk exploring the quirky main high street and incredible remains of Glastonbury Abbey. Help Abbie make films! Oregon Outdoor Recreation Initiative

02:31
Oregon’s bountiful natural resources are cornerstone to our legacy, our identity, and our economy. As an industry, outdoor recreation significantly impacts the well-being of Oregon’s economy, its communities, its residents and its natural resources. Developing a shared vision with a common agenda for how we focus our efforts to improve the outdoor recreation economy will ensure that our impacts are positive and inclusive of all. This is the impetus for the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Initiative, a statewide effort to bring together businesses, agencies, land managers, conservation groups and recreational user groups around the goal of expanding access to outdoor recreation and increasing the economic impact and sustainability of Oregon’s outdoor recreation economy.

Indian Village House In Rajasthan : Traditional Straw Hut With Cow Dung Flooring

03:10
This is traditional village in Rajasthan India . You can see a village house ( jhopadi / झोपड़ी ) in India is simple but beautiful and close to nature using Primitive Technology. I love to visit small villages in old towns . I love to see clay hut and mud construction .these traditional houses have roof of grass straws and traditional painting ( mandana art )on walls which is drawn by white lime. This is considered as house decoration .These paintings attracts foreigners tourists to villages. They frequently make village tour. This desert hut is a model village cottage. The village life style is ,as you see, is simple without any complicated machines. I asked the woman how to build a mud hut . she told the mud house is made up of bricks with lime plaster .cow dung flooring was also seen which is considered as vedic plaster. This mud architecture in the village of jodhpur is different from that of pakka house or concrete house. To live simple is a village culture .
