This is a review of the Secrets Plaa Bonita Panama Resort. This is based on a trip taken in Feb 2016. For a room review, please see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLh8x38mEY0 As a side note, Secrets and their parent company, AMResorts never responded to my complaints or survey. I was not the only one who complained. Many people who were there at the time complained as well.

Lowest and highest Tide ever Playa Bonita Panama May 2017. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth. The times and amplitude of tides at any given locale are influenced by the alignment of the Sun and Moon, by the pattern of tides in the deep ocean, by the amphidromic systems of the oceans, and the shape of the coastline and near-shore bathymetry (see Timing). Some shorelines experience a semi-diurnal tide—two nearly equal high and low tides each day. Other locations experience a diurnal tide—only one high and low tide each day. A "mixed tide"—two uneven tides a day, or one high and one low—is also possible. Tides vary on timescales ranging from hours to years due to a number of factors. To make accurate records, tide gauges at fixed stations measure water level over time. Gauges ignore variations caused by waves with periods shorter than minutes. These data are compared to the reference (or datum) level usually called mean sea level. While tides are usually the largest source of short-term sea-level fluctuations, sea levels are also subject to forces such as wind and barometric pressure changes, resulting in storm surges, especially in shallow seas and near coasts.

For our Panama trip, We stayed at Dreams resort on Playa Bonita located just outside Panama City in the town of Veracruz. We relaxed, we drank, we swam and took in the sun and set out to explore one of the wonders of the world. Our room at the dreams resort overlooked the ocean and had a direct view of all the boats entering the canal. The line of giant ships stretches for miles and miles and is best viewed at sunrise, sunset and at night when the ships turn on their lights. You can sit in your balcony and enjoy the sounds of waves and the flicker of distant sounds -- theres nothing like it. If i'll remember anything about this resort, its the ocean view. We finally got to cross a big to do off our bucket list by seeing and going through three locks of the Panama Canal effectively crossing the continental divide. Once in the locks, we watched the water rush in raising our small boat and onto the next lock until we made it to the middle and final leg of our tour. The next day after resting and enjoying some poolside drinks, We set out explore the oldest part of Panama City: Casco Viejo. Casco Viejo's old colonial spanish style buildings are awesome. Walking down the old streets is like stepping back in time to when the city of Panama was a much smaller place. Freshly colored building line these beautiful old streets. You will find shops and eateries on just about every where you go. We stopped at the Rum Bar for quick refreshing mojitos that really hit the spot after being in the Panama heat. Don't forget to stop at the old church with the amazing golden altar. Cameras: GoPro Hero 5 Olympus OMD EM 10 Music: “Liquid Blue” The Madpix Project Jamendo Music

Panama City (Spanish: ciudad de Panamá) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Panama. It has a population of 880,691, with a total metro population of 1,272,672, and is located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, in the province of Panama. The city is the political and administrative center of the country, as well as a hub for international banking and commerce. It is considered a "beta-" world city, one of three Central American cities listed in this category. The city of Panama has an average GDP per capita of $15,300. It has a dense skyline of mostly high-rise buildings, and it is surrounded by a large belt of tropical rainforest. Panama's Tocumen International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in Central America, offers daily flights to major international destinations. Panama was chosen as the 2003 American Capital of Culture jointly with Curitiba, Brazil. It is among the top five places for retirement in the world, according to International Living magazine. The city of Panama was founded on August 15, 1519, by Spanish conquistador Pedro Arias Dávila. The city was the starting point for expeditions that conquered the Inca Empire in Peru. It was a stopover point on one of the most important trade routes in the history of the American continent, leading to the fairs of Nombre de Dios and Portobelo, through which passed most of the gold and silver that Spain took from the Americas. On January 28, 1671, the city was destroyed by a fire when pirate Henry Morgan sacked and set fire to it. The city was formally reestablished two years later on January 21, 1673, in a peninsula located 8 km (5 miles) from the original settlement. The site of the previously devastated city is still in ruins and is now a popular tourist attraction known as Panama Viejo.
