Traveling to the north of Iran together with crazy Iranian youth.

12:33
https://www.instagram.com/tautvydas_slevas https://www.instagram.com/kamile_jok When we came to Zanjan, Iran, our friend Mehdi invited us to go to the northern part of Iran (near the Caspian sea) with him and eleven other young people from all Iran. This was an amazing adventure :) We slept in the mountains above the clouds, had lunch in the beach near the Caspian sea, visited famous town Masuleh and had hundreds of "dance breaks" in those three days. :)) Persian dancing, Iranian food and discussions about Persian and European cultures were only a small part of what we experienced during our journey to the North of Iran. One traveler from Czech Republic and one from Kuwait hoined our journey too. After thode few days in the Northern Iran, Mehdi took us back to Zanjan and after spending a night with our Couchsurfing.com host we continuoed traveling. Next destination was Tehran. If you are thinking about visiting Iran, please consider traveling to the North of Iran and seeing Masuleh town too. You will not be sorry. :) Don't forget that every LIKE and Subscribe is very important for us :) Find us on Facebook - http://facebook.com/invisusmundi Our article about it in our travel blog - http://invisusmundi.lt/Irano-siaure_kaspijos-jura

Caspian Sea Beach of Iran.

02:25
The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed inland body of water on Earth by area, variously classed as the world's largest lake or a full-fledged sea. It is in an endorheic basin (a basin without outflows) located between Europe and Asia. It is bounded by Kazakhstan to the northeast, Russia to the northwest, Azerbaijan to the west, Iran to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southeast. The Caspian Sea presently lies about 28 m (92 ft) below sea level in the Caspian Depression, to the east of the Caucasus Mountains and to the west of the vast steppe of Central Asia. The sea bed in the southern part reaches as low as 1023 m below sea level, which is the second lowest natural depression on earth after Lake Baikal (-1180 m). The ancient inhabitants of its coast perceived the Caspian Sea as an ocean, probably because of its saltiness and large size. The sea has a surface area of 371,000 km2 (143,200 sq mi) and a volume of 78,200 km3 (18,800 cu mi). It has a salinity of approximately 1.2% (12 g/l), about a third of the salinity of most seawater.

Will the Caspian Sea deal hold? | Inside Story

24:31
Some call it a sea, others a lake. For decades its status has been questioned. Five countries - Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan - now agree the Caspian Sea, as it is commonly known, has "special status." They all have coastlines on the water, and disputed who owned the area of water. And a deal’s now been done…to share the surface and divide up the seabed. The new agreement will open the way for oil and gas exploration...if it holds. And it could lead to a new global energy and political alliance? Iran and Russia join forces for joint war games in Caspian Sea - Iran military 2019

03:47
Iran and Russia join forces for joint war games in Caspian Sea - IRAN and Russia are preparing to hold joint naval exercises in the Caspian Sea for “peace and stability”, says the commander of the Iranian navy. Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi has been quoted by semi-official news agency Mehr as saying the two countries are planning “war games” that will be implemented in the “near future”. Iran and Russia have held several naval drills in the Caspian Sea, including in 2015 and 2017, with the Iranian commander saying cooperation between both navies had “strengthened in recent years”. He also praised wider Caspian Sea cooperation as a “model for guaranteeing peace, stability and friendship”. Mehr reported on Sunday the naval commander said: “Tactical, rescue and anti-piracy war games between Iranian and Russian naval forces are being planned and will be implemented in the near future.” The two countries have close ties, including in Syria where they both back President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s civil war. Mr Khanzadi Iran’s opposition to the military presence of any country from outside the region in the Caspian Sea, saying: “All countries around the Caspian have the same approach,” Mehr reported. Russia said last year it was firmly committed to deepening ties with Iran despite a US decision to quit an international nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions on Tehran. Enclosed by land and borderes by Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, the Caspian Sea is the world’s biggest enclosed body of water. The sea is rich in offshore oil and gas deposits worth trillions of dollars. In August Iran and Russia agreed with the three other ex-soviet nations how to divide up the oil and gas resources of the sea, leading the way for more energy exploration. The deal followed a vow made by US president Donald Trump to implement sanctions against Iran’s energy industry in an attempt to restrict its trade of oil. Yesterday Iran sent a menacing warning to the US, threatening to deploy warships in the Atlantic Ocean in response to repeated US deployments in the Persian Gulf. The news came as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to deteriorate over the former's decision to scrap a landmark nuclear deal and reimpose strict sanctions in response to Iran's alleged ties to revolutionary Shiite Muslim movements across the Middle East and its ballistic missile development. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or so-called Iran nuclear deal, was agreed by China, France, Germany, the European Union, Iran, Russia, United Kingdom, United States (who later withdrew under Donald Trump). It was intended to curb Iran’s nuclear energy programme, which the West maintained it was using as a cover up to develop a nuclear bomb. The agreement was struck in return for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions. But Trump withdrew from the deal last year, branding it “decaying and rotten”. Iran Iran, also called Persia, and officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a country in Western Asia. With 82 million inhabitants,Iran is the world's 18th most populous country. Its territory spans 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi), making it the second largest country in the Middle East and the 17th largest in the world. Iran is bordered to the northwest by Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, to the north by the Caspian Sea, to the northeast by Turkmenistan, to the east by Afghanistan and Pakistan, to the south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and to the west by Turkey and Iraq. Its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz, give it geostrategic importance.Tehran is the capital, largest city, and leading economic and cultural center. _____________________________________ Geographically, Iran is located in West Asia and borders the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf, and Gulf of Oman. Its mountains have helped to shape both the political and the economic history of the country for several centuries. The mountains enclose several broad basins, on which major agricultural and urban settlements are located. Until the 20th century, when major highways and railroads were constructed through the mountains to connect the population centers, these basins tended to be relatively isolated from one another. Iran map of Köppen climate classification zones Locator map of Iran Typically, one major town dominated each basin, and there were complex economic relationships between the town and the hundreds of villages that surrounded it. In the higher elevations of the mountains rimming the basins, tribally organized groups practiced transhumance, moving with their herds of sheep and goats between traditionally established summer and winter pastures. There are no major river systems in the country, and historically transportation was by means of caravans that followed routes traversing gaps and passes in the mountains. The mountains also impeded easy access to the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea. With an area of 1,648,000 square kilometres (636,000 sq mi), Iran ranks seventeenth in size among the countries of the world. Iran shares its northern borders with several post-Soviet states: Armenia, Azerbaijan,[a] and Turkmenistan. These borders extend for more than 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi), including nearly 650 kilometres (400 mi) of water along the southern shore of the Caspian Sea. Iran's western borders are with Turkey in the north and Iraq in the south, terminating at the Arvand Rud. The Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman littorals form the entire 1,770 kilometres (1,100 mi) southern border. To the east lie Afghanistan on the north and Pakistan on the far south. Iran's diagonal distance from Azerbaijan in the northwest to Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the southeast is approximately 2,333 kilometres (1,450 mi). North of Iran, Caspian Sea - Shomal

A very amateur video of my short trip in North of Iran and Caspian coastline. These shots are taken mostly in Kelachay and Ramsar. It goes from the beautiful roads of Caspian coastline to the bazaars around. I hope you all enjoy my very first video. *And about the music on the background I must say, I enjoyed listening to that while spending my days and nights there with a great friend of mine who is also a local there. That's the only reason.

The Caspian coastline is one of the most popular destinations for Iran's domestic tourists. Sandy beaches give way to wide open steppes, thickly forested foothills and eventually the bare peaks of the Alborz mountain range. For many Iranians, especially those from Tehran, the lush vegetation and spectacular natural scenery, along with the tropical summers and mild winters, offer a striking contrast from city life and the dry interior.

BREAKING NEWS Iran launches Jamaran-2 frigate in Caspian Sea

02:48
Iran defense ministry has announced plans to launch a modern frigate named Jamaran 2 It will be the most modern frigate that Iran has ever produced. SUBSCRIBE FOR UPDATES NEWS REPORT FROM PRESS TV (www.presstv.ir) Iran launches the indigenously-manufactured Jamaran 2 destroyer in the Caspian Sea near the northern port city of Bandar Anzali in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Jamaran 2, a Wave-class warship, has been designed and built by the experts at Iran's Defense Ministry and has state-of-the-art navigation equipment and complex defensive systems. The production line of the advanced indigenous destroyer was inaugurated in Bandar Anzali six years ago with the aim of protecting Iran's 20-percent share of the Caspian Sea. Jamaran 2 will officially join the fleet of Iran's Navy within the next 6 months after the completion of final tests. In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems. Tehran has repeatedly assured other countries that its military might poses no threat to other states, insisting that the Islamic Republic's defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence. SF/MA (text from presstv. web www.presstv.ir) MORE INFORMATION FROM Wikipedia Jamaran is the name of a domestically produced Moudge class guided missile frigate[3][4][5] launched in early 2010 in Bandar-e-Abbas, Iran. Iran said that the design and building of Jamaran and the missile boat Paykan were among the greatest achievements of the Iranian Navy and the ship's launch marks a major technological leap for Iran's naval industries.[7][9] It is the first ship from four in its class. More ships in its class are under construction to be added to the Iranian Naval fleets in the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf soon. The ship is designed for a crew of 140.[10] The Jamaran class combines anti-submarine assets with other systems of weapons capable of dealing with surface and air threats as well. The war game covered an area of 80,000 square kilometers in the Caspian Sea, and involved a whole range of military vessels, commando units, divers, rescue and relief teams, electronic warfare units, radar stations, airborne units, fighter jets and sea-based drones. Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari دريابان حبيب الله سياري and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani سخنگوي مجلس علي لاريجاني were among the figures who watched the naval forces on parade at the conclusion of the drill. For the first time in the history of Caspian drills, ‘Damavand دماوند’ homegrown destroyer was used in a war game after taking part in several operations and overseas trips. Employed as the command ship of the war game, Damavand was accompanied by Peykan-class corvettes, Qaem-class frigates armed with naval guns, and assault speedboats. The purposes of the maneuver included practicing tactics to ensure sustainable security in the Caspian Sea, announcement of Iran’s readiness for cooperation with other Caspian states, sending the message of peace and friendship, as well as testing and evaluating the new weapons and military systems mounted on the naval vessels. Caspian Sea countries' summit in Iran - 16 Oct 07

02:26
He's the first Russian leader to visit Tehran since the second world war, and President Vladimir Putin's visit comes at a crucial time. Iran's standoff with the US and other world powers over its nuclear programme shows no sign of abating, and Russia has positioned itself as mediator. Just a few hours ago, Putin fired a warning shot at the US by making it clear that any use of military force in the Caspian region was unacceptable. Ayman Moheldine has this report. Amid much fan fare, pomp and even reports of an assassination plot the sitting president of Russia, Putin arrived in Iran. It is the first such visit by a sitting president since 1943 despite participating in a five-nation Caspian Sea Summit, it's the relations between the two that will be closely watched. Now, Moscow, which has had traditionally warm ties with Iran, will attempt to iron out possible differences over Tehran's nuclear energy program which it's helping to develop. And this is where the Russians are doing exactly that the Bushehr Power Plant. It's 90% complete but is still far from operational...Russian contractors say Iran hasn't made timely payments a claim it denies. Tehran has said Moscow was delaying construction because of intense western pressure. That has made some Iranians lose trust. It's not just bilateral issues that will dominate the headlines. Western powers will be watching the Putin's visit very closely for any signs there's a shift in Moscow's policies over Iran nuclear program - a matter Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says is closed. While the US, UK and France have sought tougher sanctions against Iran, Russia has traditionally shied away from criticizing its nuclear energy programme. President Putin has favored diplomacy over sanctions...but if the bilateral relations between the two countries cool down, western powers may be empowered to seek the a third round of sanctions with Russian support.

Iran Naval drill in Caspian sea code named Sustainable Security & Power 96 رزمايش نيروي دريايي ايران

July 2, 2017 (Persian calendar 1396/4/11) The Iranian Navy on Sunday began massive military exercises in waters of the Caspian Sea north of the country. A huge number of naval forces aboard destroyers and military vessels are taking part in the drills, code-named “Sustainable Security and Power 96”. During the five-day maneuver, new weapons, military systems, and equipment manufactured by the Iranian Defense Ministry will be unveiled or tested by the Navy. A number of the Air Force’s fighter jets and air defense systems have also been deployed to the area to ensure the security of the drills. Over the past few years, the Iranian Navy's forces have held several military drills in southern and northern waters. Deputy Commander of Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi دريابان محمود موسوي said the naval forces are planned to test the country’s new weapons and military equipment in the ongoing military drills in northern Iran. The war game code-named “Sustainable Security and Power 96 امنيت پايدار و قدرت نودوشش” is part of annual exercises of the Nay in the waters of the Caspian Sea, Admiral Mousavi said in a press conference on Sunday. Sea and air units of the Navy, shore-to-sea missile systems, diving teams, healthcare, intelligence systems, and commando units specialized in marine warfare have been deployed to the drills, he noted. The commander further emphasized that ensuring the security of the northern and southern waters has always been one of the main goals of the Islamic Republic. During the five-day exercises, new weapons, military systems, and equipment are going to be tested by the Navy, he said. Some of the Army’s fighter jets and air defense systems have also been deployed to the area to ensure the security of the drills. (23 Jun 1979) The disorder of the Iranian revolution has produced a boom for caviar smuggling, the Caspian fisherman's favourite sideline. The government has a monopoly of the caviar business and anyone outside the state-owned fishing company is guilty of a crime, but in the confusion that has followed the revolution, the law has broken down and the "pirate" caviar dealers have grasped their opportunity. Iran Damavand frigate to help Caspian sea security_March 9, 2015_ناوشكن دماوند درياي مازندران ايران

02:17
March 9, 2015 (Persian calendar 1393/12/18) Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari دريابان حبيب الله سياري says the country’s domestically-made frigate, Damavand, will help promote security in the Caspian Sea. “Boosting security in the Caspian Sea درياي خزر is one of the main goals of the Damavand دماوند frigate,” Sayyari told on Monday on the sidelines of a ceremony to deliver the advanced frigate to the Iranian Navy’s fleet. “The advanced frigate is a result of the efforts made by Iranian specialists to help the country stand independent and achieve self-sufficiency. A high level of technology has been used in the advanced frigate, Damavand. It’s also much faster than the Jamaran frigate,” Sayyari said. The state-of-the-art training Damavand frigate, equipped with modern radar, electronic and reconnaissance systems, was delivered to the Iranian naval forces stationed in the northern port city of Anzali بندر انزلي in a ceremony on Monday. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani علي شمخاني, who was present in the ceremony to deliver the frigate to the navy, described the Caspian Sea as a sea of peace and friendship, saying the Islamic Republic has played a unique role in providing security, particularly energy security in the sea. “Iran has always played a key role in ensuring peace and security in this sea. Moreover, the launch of the advanced Damavand frigate shows Iran has been successful in providing its own needs domestically despite all sanctions against the country,” he added. The Iranian Navy launched its first domestically-built frigate, Jamaran جماران, in the Persian Gulf خليج فارس in February 2010. The 1,420 Ton frigate is equipped with modern radar systems and other electronic warfare capabilities. It also features highly advanced anti-aircraft, anti-surface and anti-subsurface systems. Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence. Lahijan, beautiful city in Iran, Lāhijān, , Caspian sea resort , Gilan Province, culture and climate

Lahijan (Persian: Lāhijān‎, also known as, Lāhijān)[1] is a Caspian sea resort in and the capital of Lahijan County, Gilan Province, Iran. At the 2016 census, its population was 167,544 in 58,378 families.[2]آتش سوزی لاهیجان جنگل لاهیجان آتش جنگل لاهیجان آتش لاهيجان Lahijan wildfire, Lahijan forest, Lahijan forest fire, Lahijan fire, The resort Lahijan has both traditional and modern architecture. The city, which has an Iranian-European urban structure, lies on the northern slope of the Alborz mountains. Its culture and climatic favorable condition have made Lahijan a major tourist hub in northern Iran. The city is basically founded on the sediments remaining from big rivers in Gilan, including the Sefid-Rud (White River). Historically, the city was the major business center and the capital of East Gilan during the time of special rulers. Lahijan has also been a tourism hub of the Islamic world during differen[edit] This section does not cite any sources. Please help improve this section by adding citations to reliable sources. The history of tea culture in Iran started at the end of the 15th century. Before that coffee was the main beverage in Iran. However, most of the coffee producing countries were located far from Iran, making shipping very difficult. With a major tea producing country, China, located on a nearby trading path, "the silk road", and the shipping of tea was much easier. That was a main reason why tea became much popular in Iran. As a result, the demand for tea grew, and more tea needed to be imported to match Iran's consumption. Iran failed in their first attempt to cultivate tea in their own country in 1882 with seeds from India. In 1899 Prince Mohammad Mirza known as "Kashef Al Saltaneh" who was born in Lahijan, imported Indian tea and started its cultivation in Lahijan. Kashef, who was the first mayor of Tehran and an Iranian ambassador to India under British rule, knew that the British would not allow him to learn about the secrets of tea production, as it was their biggest business in India at the time. So being fluent in French, the prince pretended to be a French laborer and started to work in the tea plantations and factories to learn how to produce tea. Ultimately his plan was to take back some samples of this tea to Iran to cultivate. He was successful in this endeavor only because of his diplomatic immunity which stopped the British from searching his secretly stashed sample. At the time, Kashef brought 3000 saplings into his country from the Northern part of India, Kangra. He started the cultivation in the region Gilan, south of the Caspian Sea. The climate there was well suited for tea cultivation, and the tea industry quickly expanded in Gilan and Mazanderan region. Kashef’s mausoleum in Lahijan is now part of the "Iran's National Tea Museum". Iran's National Tea Museum and Kashef Osaltane's tomb. In 1934 the first modern style tea factory was built. Now there are up to 107 tea factories and a total of 32,000 hectare of tea farms. Most of the farms are located the hillsides of Iran like the farms in Darjeeling. These farms produce an orthodox style of black tea. The color of Iranian tea is red and taste is fairly light, and it is delicious without adding any milk or sugar. The total production of black tea in 2009 was approximately 60’000 tons. Tea in Lahijan[edit] A statue in Lahijan Historically, Lahijan is the first town in Iran to have tea plantations. With its mild weather, soil quality and fresh spring water, Lahijan stands to have the largest area of tea cultivation in Iran. But today the country's tea industry is deep in trouble and the verdant gardens that once sustained millions of farmers and their workers are used only for grazing sheep and other personal purposes. Despite having one of the world's most avid tea drinking populations, the Iranian tea economy is reeling from an influx of foreign imports and smugglers who, local traders complain, often have close family ties to powerful figures in the Islamic government. The consequences are plain to see. In Lahijan, the historic capital of Iran's tea industry, land that was once a lush vista of tea bushes is now occupied by houses and flats, built by tea factory owners who have moved into the building trade in response to their industry's decline. Several of the town's tea mills are derelict. Others are at a stand-still or operating at half capacity. Some 40% of the half-million tea farmers in tea-rich Gilan province have gone out of business, because the factories are no longer buying their crops. Hundreds of thousands of pickers have been forced out of work. Cookies (Kulucheh)t eras in Iran's history.
