Cash conversion has been reduced to Rs 2000 ($30) per person. As a result people are facing humiliation and stand in queues for as much as 12 hours or more. Often repeated visits to the bank are necessary, with no guarantee that the bank will have cash available for the conversion. Old and disabled people, the 25% of India's society without ID-cards, and women (unless they are prepared to be molested) don’t even have this chance. For those who are able join the queues, the scene has turned into a battlefield, with people fighting among themselves and getting brutalized by the police. But so far most people seem to still carry a favorable opinion of Modi, backed by cult-like “intellectual” climate created by the salaried middle class (who lack critical thinking and reasoning capability), and supported by the international media and institutions like the IMF, i.e., people who are sitting in Western cities have no clue about the realities on the ground. But all this will change as the stories of personal suffering should eventually start to dominate over the propaganda—reality does have a way of catching up. But India’s descent toward a police state is now written in concrete. Even if Modi eventually goes, a new demagogue will take his place.

Another case of police brutality has been caught on film. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go "A black resident of Eastpointe, Michigan has filed suit against local police after they tied him to a chair and beat him so severely that he permanently lost the vision in one eye. Detroit’s Fox 2 News said that Frankie Taylor was arrested for driving under the influence on Aug. 10, 2015, but what happened when he arrived at the station was like something from a nightmare — and cameras caught it all. “If you keep acting like a child, you’re going to get strapped in that chair and you’re going to stay there,” an officer can be heard on tape telling Taylor. The station’s surveillance cameras caught officers carrying Taylor to a chair and restraining him, then threatening to tase him. Another officer entered the frame, donned a pair of gloves and began to beat Taylor savagely until he lost consciousness. “Stop resisting,” the officer robotically repeated between blows to Taylor’s face and head. “Stop resisting. Stop resisting.””* Read more here: http://www.rawstory.com/2016/12/video-michigan-cops-strap-black-man-to-a-chair-and-beat-him-until-he-is-blind-in-one-eye/ Hosts: Cenk Uygur Cast: Cenk Uygur *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Endless Uganda police brutality against Museveni rivals, plenty of condemnation, but nothing changes Endless Uganda police brutality against Museveni rivals, plenty of condemnation, but nothing changes - rights group 16 Oct 2015 00:20Fred Ojambo 2368200 IMF has cut its Ugandan growth forecast to 5%, citing global shocks and nervousness over elections that had contributed to sharp decline in shilling. Uganda Police do what they do best. (Photo/AFP). Uganda Police do what they do best. (Photo/AFP). UGANDAN police brutality against government opponents risks undermining the credibility of the East African nation’s 2016 elections, Human Rights Watch said, shortly before a presidential contender was arrested for planning to attend rallies. Arrests of opposition activists and dispersals of their gatherings deny the population the right to hear divergent views, Maria Burnett, a senior Africa researcher with the New York-based advocacy group, said in an e-mailed statement. President Yoweri Museveni, who’s ruled the nation for nearly three decades, is seeking to beat opponents such as his former allies Amama Mbabazi and Kizza Besigye in polls scheduled for February. Museveni tries his foot at a ball - human rights group says his government is kicking opponents too. (Photo/YM/FB). “Ultimately, until Ugandans can freely assemble, hear divergent views, and weigh how to use their vote without fear of teargas, bullets, and batons, the freedom and fairness of Uganda’s elections will be in question,” Burnett said. Police made a “preventative arrest” of Besigye and his Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party spokesman on Thursday because the two had planned to lead rallies in the eastern towns of Jinja and Iganga, deputy police spokeswoman Polly Namaye said by phone. The force isn’t “partisan,” and was carrying out its “mandate of ensuring security in the country,” she said. Rally blocked Police blocked a planned opposition rally in western Uganda on Oct. 10 and assaulted a female opposition member, she said. The attack drew widespread condemnation. Authorities say opposition gatherings are a threat to public peace and the official campaigning season only begins in November. Museveni, 71, has led Africa’s biggest coffee exporter since January 1986. He ruled for the first 10 years without elections and subsequently won four five-year terms. The International Monetary Fund on Oct. 5 cut its Ugandan economic-growth forecast to 5% for the 12 months through June 2016, citing global shocks and saying nervousness over the elections had contributed to a sharp decline in the Ugandan shilling. “Uganda police brutality has played out countless times, often before televised cameras,” Burnett said. “While there has been plenty of condemnation, ultimately nothing changes.” -Bloomberg Naye dala lwaki mukuba abantu emiggo gityo?

http://www.vladtv.com - A Seattle man reached a settlement with the city’s police department after a group of cops were caught using excessive force during an unlawful arrest. According to Seattle Pi, Isaac Ocak was brutally beaten by four cops in 2010. Ocak was driving his girlfriend’s car at the time when police pulled him over in West Seattle’s Westwood Village shopping mall. After police demanded the then 23-year-old to call his girlfriend to solidify his story, he was was choked and punched in the face several times by the officers. At the time of the arrest, the officers claimed Ocak tried to harm them and was charged with “contempt of cop” and fourth-degree assault. Dashcam footage proved the SPD wrong and the city dropped the charges. Ocak was awarded $70,000 last month and the men remained on the force. The Seattle native believes the officers aren’t aware or might not even care that they did anything wrong. “I do not believe the officers involved regret their actions,” Ocak said. “They may feel bad for the consequences they caused the city and how their image looks but they do not regret specifically what they did to me.” He also says how troubling it is to be reminded everyday by people in his community about the incident. “Since this event I have tried to move and put it all behind me however it is sometimes difficult when I get called out in my community as ‘the guy that got beat up by the police,” he said. “It's also difficult to see the same four officers still patrolling my neighborhood and not knowing what could happen if one of them ever detains me and they choose to leave video off.”

BAKERSFIELD, CA -- Kern County deputies beat an intoxicated man to death in the street Tuesday night, then detained and intimidated witnesses, confiscated video evidence, and arrested another man who spoke out. David Silva was beaten with batons, left in a pool of blood until an ambulance finally arrived after he was already dead. A female 9-1-1 caller named Selena told the dispatcher, "There's a man laying on the floor, and your police officers beat the (expletive) out of him and killed him." She said that she witnessed the victim do nothing wrong to cause 8 officers to bludgeon him to death. "These cops had no reason to do this to this man." https://www.facebook.com/PoliceStateUSA A 19-year-old male witness, Ruben Ceballos, was awakened around midnight by screams and loud banging noises outside his home. He said he ran to the left side of his house to find out who was causing the ruckus."When I got outside I saw two officers beating a man with batons and they were hitting his head so every time they would swing, I could hear the blows to his head." He said that Silva was on the ground screaming for help, but officers continued to beat him After several minutes, Silva stopped screaming and was no longer responsive, according to Ceballos. Another witness, Jason Land, said that he witnessed the beating of David Silva. "They jumped out, reached for their bats, and beat that man until they killed him," he said, "right in front of my face." Land spoke up about what he saw and was arrested as retaliation. The witness was on probation and says police responded to his eyewitness report by claiming he was high on PCP and arrested him without any proof. Witnesses also say that the victim's body was left to bleed out in the street for a prolonged period without any medical attention, wasting crucial minutes before the ambulance arrived. By that point, it was too late and CPR attempts were futile. Other witnesses, including Melissa Quair, were harassed and told that they must surrender their cell phones as "evidence." Their houses were even searched as a crime scene in order to confiscate the video evidence. The victim's brother, Christopher Silva, says his brother was murdered and wants justice. He is demanding that his brother's body be released so that he can see the result of the beating. He wants the confiscated videos to be released. "My brother spent the last eight minutes of his life pleading, begging for his life. The true evidence is in those phone witnesses that apparently the sheriff deputies already took. But I know the truth will come out and my brother's voice will be heard."
