This is NOT FINISHED, it's the first draft of my documentary about youth culture. It's what I handed-in as my final product for my EPQ project. It's about British youth culture (predominantly looking at drug and party culture, branding and fashion, social media, politics and university.) Through interviews and some bits of voice over. The final draft will be produced at some point in the near future.

10 WEIRD Fashion Subcultures You Won't Believe Actually Exist

10 Popular Fashion Subcultures You Never Noticed 10 DIY Edible School Supplies / Prank Your Friends! https://youtu.be/qWCG9g9HGgo Subscribe: https://goo.gl/Hnoaw3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you interested in seeing how people dress and live in other parts of the world? If so, we’re going to give you a peek at a few of the strangest subcultures to ever exist. Members of these groups have outrageous outfits, wear an extreme amount of makeup, and live their lives in accordance with the rules of their group. From Bronies who are obsessed with My Little Pony to the Ganguro Girls, the Visual Keis, and the Rockabillies in Japan, we’re going to explore what these trends are really like. This is 10 WEIRD Fashion Subcultures You Wont Believe Actually Exist. Seapunk is one underground trend that went mainstream after artists like Rihanna and Azealia Banks embraced its ‘90s aesthetic. This subculture is in stark contrast to other movements, such as Nu Goth. This group takes classic elements from traditional goth styles and pairs them with pastel and brightly-colored hair. One of the creepiest subcultures to exist is Lolita. It originates from Japan, and the women all don Victorian-inspired get ups each and every day. Just wait until you see the pictures of these women in their Lolita garb. You’ve got to see it to believe it! Another Japanese subculture is called Shironuri. This group wears full-length bodysuits for a very good reason. You’ll have to watch our video to find out the reason behind their costumes! If you’d like to learn more about strange fashion subcultures, including the Cutesters in London, make sure to watch our video. Let us know in the comments which of these fashion and cultural trends shocked you the most. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

The Influence of Youth Subcultures on the Fashion Industry

04:22
Fashion. It seems to rotate trends and styles every second. At the start there seems to so much hype when something unique is created, however after a while the mass-production and dilution of the trend eventually more often than not, will cause it to die. Contemporary fashion lights up trends and then covers them with an oversized shadow in no time. However, here is proof that youth subcultures are here to stay.

60 Amazing Photographs Captured Youth Culture and Street Style Fashion in California From 1969 19

07:08
For a period of ten years, beginning in the mid-1960s, Nacio Jan Brown photographed virtually all of the major anti-war and social protest movement activities in the San Francisco Bay Area. His photographs were published widely in the “underground” press of the times. In addition his work has appeared in many books, magazines, and newspapers worldwide, including art historian Peter Selz’s recent book, The Art of Engagement: Visual Politics California and Beyond. As a photographer for the San Francisco Express Times, an underground weekly newspaper, Brown would sit in Caffe Mediterraneum on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley and wait for a riot to arrive. “On this one segment of one street were flower children and riots, hard drugs and Jesus freaks, left-wing intellectuals and psychedelics, natural foods and runaways. From the time I began to photograph for the underground press in the mid-sixties, I planned to document the life on this block. In 1969 I started. I felt that the counterculture was beginning to fragment. While most people on the block still identified more with each other than with those outside, tension was increasing and things were changing fast.”

What Harajuku Girls Really Look Like | Style Out There | Refinery29

07:50
From Gothic Lolitas to Yoyogi Rockabillies, the Tokyo neighborhood of Harajuku is a wellspring of some of the world's most unique and extreme fashion trends. Rife with restaurants, shops, and cafes, it's a hangout 'hood for the city's youth, whose style is confined to uniforms from elementary school through to high school graduation. And, perhaps to rebel from such strict sameness, they spend their weekends seeing how far they can push the limits. One of the oldest and most pervasive Harajuku style groups is Decora, characterized by a pursuit of kawaii, or "cuteness," which is expressed in massive piles of hair clips, face bandaids, creative layering, and a mishmash of colors and textures. Don't let "cute" confuse you: There's nothing delicate or elegant about Decora. It's bright, it's loud, and it's in your face (or rather, on your face, via a Hello Kitty bandaid). Though the style can appear as frivolous as a Halloween costume, there's a real statement behind the bevy of barrettes. In the face of pervasive group-mindedness, a rigid social order, and cultural reticence, the Decora have figured out a way to break free. In the first episode of our new documentary series, Style Out There, our host Asha Leo travels to Harajuku to meet with street fashion superstars, like 90884 designer Kurebayashi, Junnyan, and Shoichi Aoki, the founder of FRUiTS magazine, to peel back the rainbow-colored stickers and uncover the depth behind Decora. CASUALS Trailer - 80s Awaydays Football Culture

01:30
CASUALS the story of football culture and fashion is availabe from Amazon https://amzn.to/2Nusm7b - Youth culture movements have always had strong links to fashion and certain styles - whether it is the punk-rock scene, hip-hop styles or mods. However, most of these movements also have close ties with a particular music. Promoted through the music press and seen in music videos and album covers, the fashion styles moved with the music, and the two often became inseparable. However, there is one fashion movement that stood away from the music business and in the shadow of a more sinister youth movement - The Casuals. Taking their cues from a mixture of mod fashions and sportswear the Casuals became synonymous with the British soccer hooligans of the 1980s. While the football terraces were very much the providing grounds of the Casual style, the influence and impact of this often-ignored working-class culture can still be felt across the world today. Urban Edge Films have finally lifted the lid on the Casual movement with this superb documentary look at the styles and the attitude that under-pinned the 80s Casual. From Adidas and Fila to Fred Perry, Stone Island, Lacoste and Burberry, this film shows how the need to be seen in the right clothing was vital to the 80s Casual. Interviews with those who were there at the time give this film a unique standpoint to reveal the inception and growth of the influential fashion movement. It is the fact that the scene was tied so closely to soccer violence that has perhaps left it to be ignored by many cultural critics, in favor of the more easily accepted music-related movements. However, as this film shows, the impact of the Casual movement is still being felt today as designer label clothing, outlets and styles have become part of everyday fashion, not just in the UK,but around the world. An overdue, yet superbly researched and produced, documentary, 'Casuals' is a must-see film for followers of youth culture as well as those who remember the movement itself. 'Casuals' demonstrates how an underground movement changed the face of fashion around the globe by showing and proving on the streets of Britain, all without the push of a music-led media revolution. Casuals will be on iTunes, Amazon, Sony, Google and XBOX. #Britflicks #FootballCulture #Awaydays

Exploring Ukraine's Underground Rave Revolution

09:55
The 2014 revolution brought Kiev nightlife to a complete standstill. As protests turned into riots, and government security forces opened fire on protestors, the country fell into crisis. But out of the ashes of revolution has risen a new generation. Slava Lepsheev, who’d lost his job because of the financial crisis triggered by the war, had had enough, and started Cxema, a raw, hard and hypnotic techno rave that he took to whatever semi-legal venue he could set a soundsystem up in. So together with Slava, and the city’s brightest young lights, we followed young Kiev as they prepared for a night at Cxema, from building the venue to watching the sunrise break. Inside Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Post-Soviet Generation

14:57
In this episode of Global Street Style, i-D heads to Russia for exclusive backstage access to Gosha Rubchinskiy’s spring/summer 18 show in St. Petersburg, and to meet the prolific post-1991 generation carving out their own future. This is the first generation of Russian youth to have grown up after the fall of the Soviet Union, and are looking inwards to the Eastern Bloc for inspiration, rather than the wider Western world. With designers like Gosha Rubchinskiy popularising post-Soviet style around the world, we discover what effect the former Soviet Union has had on modern creativity, the impact of this cultural explosion on the rest of the world, and what it is to be young in Russia today.
